Ketowyn DT tablet is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine that is used to relieve moderate to severe pain due to conditions such as severe traumatic pain (injuries), post-operative pain, fractures, pain associated with dental procedures etc. The tablet effectively relieves muscle stiffness, thereby improving muscle movement. This medicine is not recommended for long-term painful conditions and severe kidney injury. However, the uses mentioned here are not comprehensive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

How to Use

How to Use

Take Ketowyn DT tablet as instructed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or crush or chew the tablet.
Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
The tablet should be taken after food. Take the tablet at the same time every day as it helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body. The tablet is usually taken twice a day.
Do not change the dose or stop taking the medicine before completion of the course or without consulting your doctor. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount suggested.

Overdosage

Avoid taking medicine more than the prescribed dosage. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions after taking the tablet, promptly seek medical attention. Depending on the dosage of Ketowyn DT tablet, symptoms vary in individuals, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

Kidney:

Caution is advised among people with kidney problems. Adjustments of dose of the medicine may be needed. If you have any renal problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consumption of this medicine.

Liver:

Extreme caution is advised among people with liver problems. Dose adjustments of the tablet may be needed. If you have any hepatic problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consumption of this medicine. Any symptoms such as nausea, fever, dark urine etc should be reported to your doctor immediately. However, use of this tablet is not suggested in patients with severe liver diseases.

Pregnancy:

Ketowyn DT tablet should be used with caution during pregnancy. Despite the fact that there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown adverse effects on the developing baby. It is recommended that you consult your doctor before consumption of this medicine.

Lactation:

This medicine is not considered safe to use in nursing mothers unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks involved. Since limited information is available about the safety of taking this tablet, consult your doctor if you are nursing mother and stay on the safe side.

Alcohol:

Consumption of alcohol with this tablet is not recommended as it increases side effects such as risk of liver injuries, gastrointestinal bleeding, dizziness, light headedness. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions after taking the tablet, report to your doctor immediately. If you consume alcohol on regular basis, relevant dose adjustments of the medicine may be necessary depending on your clinical condition.

Driving:

The tablet may decrease alertness, cause impaired judgement, affect your vision and make you feel dizzy, difficulty in concentration, fatigue, light headedness. Do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention or physical strength.

Food:

High fat food should be avoided.

Drug Interactions:

Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines which includes over-the-counter drugs, herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription. Alert your doctor if you are taking Ketowyn DT tablet with NSAIDs, aspirin, pentoxifylline, digoxin, phenytoin, carbamazepine, fluoxetine, thiothixene, ciclosporin, methotrexate, diuretics, ACE inhibitors, alprazolam.

What is ketorolac tromethamine for:

This medication is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent (NSAID), prescribed for short-term management of severe pain, usually after surgery that requires analgesia (pain killer) at the opioid level and free from opioid side effects. It stops the bodys production of substances (prostaglandin, histamines etc) that cause pain, fever and inflammation.

How does ketorolac tromethamine work:

Ketorolac tromethamine blocks chemicals that cause pain and swelling.

How should ketorolac tromethamine be used:

It comes as a tablet to be taken by mouth. It is usually taken every 4 to 6 hours on a schedule or as needed for pain. It also comes as eye drops to instill into the affected eyes, as directed by your physician.

Common side effects of ketorolac tromethamine :

Headache. Belly pain. Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. Loose stools (diarrhea).

What do I do if I miss a dose

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Many times this drug is taken on an as needed basis.

What precautions should I take when taking ketorolac tromethamine :

If you have an allergy to ketorolac tromethamine or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs. If you have any of these health problems: Bleeding in the brain, bleeding problems, hole in the GI (gastrointestinal) tract, recent GI bleeding, very bad kidney disease, ulcer disease, or use before surgery. If you are more than 24 weeks pregnant. If you are breast-feeding.

When do I need to seek medical help

If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Chest pain or pressure. Change in strength on 1 side is greater than the other, trouble speaking or thinking, change in balance, or blurred eyesight. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Very bad belly pain. Very bad swelling or pain of hands or feet. A big weight gain. Black, tarry, or bloody stools. Blood in the urine. Very loose stools (diarrhea). Any bruising or bleeding. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.
