Lasilarc 40 MG tablet is a diuretic or water pill used to control high blood pressure and fluid retention. The tablet prevents your body from absorbing too much salt and allows it to be removed through urine and prevents swelling and oedema in the body. The medicine is also used in treating congestive heart failure characterised by the decrease in the blood flow to the body parts. Frequent monitoring of electrolyte levels and blood pressure is necessary while taking this medicine. However, the uses mentioned are not exhaustive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

Furosemide is a diuretic that is derived from sulfamoyl anthranilic acid, primarily inhibits sodium and chloride reabsorption in urine and eliminates excess salt and water by increasing the amount of urine production. It also decreases the strains on blood vessels and heart, thereby decreasing high blood pressure and reduces the risk of heart attacks, stroke and kidney problems.

How to Use

How to Use

Take Lasilarc 40MG tablet as instructed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or crush or chew the tablet.
Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
This tablet can be taken with or without food or as advised by the doctor. To reduce gastrointestinal discomfort, the medicine may be taken with meals. Take the tablet at the same time every day as it helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body.
Do not change the dose or stop taking the medicine before completion of the course or without consulting your doctor. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount suggested even though the symptoms disappear after the medicine has begun.

Overdosage

Avoid taking more than the recommended dosage. In case of accidental overdose, promptly seek medical advice. Depending on the dosage of Lasilarc 40 MG tablet, symptoms vary in individuals, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

  • Profound diuresis resulting in dehydration
  • Blood volume reduction

  • Administer fluid and electrolyte replacement as required for extensive fluid loss.
  • Administer activated charcoal within 1 hour of ingesting toxic doses.

Kidney:

Extreme caution is advised among patients with known history of kidney diseases due to increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition. Dose adjustments of the tablet may be needed. Regular monitoring of kidney function tests is recommended while taking this tablet. If you have any, it is highly recommended that you consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Liver:

Caution is advised among people with liver problems. Close monitoring of liver function and adjustments of dose of the medicine may be needed based on the clinical condition of the patient. If you have any liver problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the taking this tablet.

Pregnancy:

Use of this tablet is not advised unless the clinical condition of the patient requires treatment. Despite the fact that there are limited studies in human beings, animal studies have shown effects on the developing baby. It is recommended that you consult your doctor before consuming this medicine.

Lactation:

This medicine is not considered safe to use in nursing mothers unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks involved. Since the effect of the medicine on infants is not clearly established, we recommend that you to consult your doctor before consuming the tablet.

Alcohol:

Consumption of alcohol with this tablet is not recommended as it increases side effects such as difficulty in concentration, dizziness. Any symptoms of abnormal reactions after taking the medicine should be reported to your doctor immediately.

Driving:

This tablet may decrease alertness, cause impaired judgement, affect your vision and make you feel dizzy. Do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention or physical strength.

Alert your doctor if you are taking Lasilarc 40MG tablet with dexamethasone, Na phosphate, hypokalaemia (K-spring diuretics), cardiac glycosides, antihistamines, antipsychotics, angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors, aminoglycosides, digoxin, NSAIDs, antidepressants.

This medication is a diuretic agent, prescribed for fluid retention in people with congestive heart failure, liver disease or kidney disorder. It helps the kidney to get rid of unwanted water from the body.

How does Furosemide work:

Furosemide gets rid of extra salt and water in the body.

How should Furosemide be used:

PO- The usual initial dose is 20 to 80 mg given as a single dose. Max: 600 mgday. It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with or without food. It also comes as a solution for injection to be administered by a healthcare provider into the vein or muscle.

Common side effects of Furosemide :

Feeling dizzy. Rise slowly over a few minutes when sitting or lying down. Be careful climbing. Belly pain. Headache. Low potassium levels. Signs include feeling tired, weak, numbness, or tingling; muscle cramps; hard stools (constipation); throwing up; or a fast heartbeat. Dry mouth. Good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. See a dentist often. Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. Hard stools (constipation). Drinking more liquids, working out, or adding fiber to your diet may help. Talk with your doctor about a stool softener or laxative. Hearing loss. This can be long-lasting. - Liquid: - Loose stools (diarrhea) with high doses.

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.

What precautions should I take when taking Furosemide :

If you have an allergy to furosemide or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs. If you have a sulfa (sulfonamide) allergy, talk with your doctor. If you have trouble passing urine.

When do I need to seek medical help

If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Signs of low potassium. Very bad dizziness or passing out. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Very loose stools (diarrhea). A big weight gain. Swelling in your legs or belly. Change in hearing. Not able to pass urine. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.
