      Macarbi 40MG tablet is used to treat hypertension (elevation of blood pressure caused by genetic or environmental factors), prevents angina (heart related chest pain) and other heart complications. The medicine works by slowing down the activity of your heart allowing it to beat slower and less forcefully and also relaxes the blood vessels and improves blood flow and oxygen in the body, thereby reducing the risk of getting chest pain. It is also effective in preserving kidney function in patients with diabetes. This medicine is used with a proper healthy diet and exercise program, smoking cessation to control high blood pressure for best possible effects. However, the uses mentioned are not exhaustive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

      How to Use

      Take Macarbi 40MG tablet as instructed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or crush or chew the tablet.
      Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
      The tablet can be taken with or without food. If significant stomach upset occurs, it could be taken with food. The tablet is usually taken not more than once a day. Take the tablet at the same time every day as it helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body.
      Do not change the dose or stop taking the medicine before completion of the course or without consulting your doctor. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount suggested.

      Overdosage

      Avoid taking more than the recommended dosage. In case of accidental overdose, promptly seek medical advice. Depending on the dosage of Macarbi 40MG tablet, symptoms vary in individuals, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

      Kidney:

      Caution is advised among patients with renal problems. Dose adjustments may be needed. Potassium and creatinine levels should be monitored. If you have any kidney disease, it is recommended to you consult your doctor before the consumption of this medicine.

      Liver:

      Extreme caution is advised among patients with liver problems. Dose adjustments of the tablet may be needed on the basis of clinical condition of the patient. we recommend you to consult your doctor before the consumption of this medicine. However, this medicine is not recommended in patients with severe hepatic impairment.

      Pregnancy:

      Macarbi 40MG tablet might be risky to use during pregnancy. Despite the fact that there are limited studies in human beings, animal studies have shown adverse effects on the developing baby. However, in some life-threatening situations, doctors may rarely prescribe if the benefits are more than the potential risks. It is recommended that you consult your doctor before consuming this medicine.

      Lactation:

      The medicine is likely unsafe to use for nursing mothers. Limited human data suggests that the medication may pass into the breastmilk and harm the infant. Consult your doctor immediately if the baby shows signs of increased sleepiness, breathing problems or difficulty in breast feeding.

      Alcohol:

      Consumption of alcohol with this medicine is not recommended as it increases side effects such as difficulty in hypotension, concentration, dizziness, light headedness. Any symptoms of abnormal reactions after taking the medicine should be reported to your doctor immediately.

      Driving:

      The tablet may decrease alertness, cause impaired judgement, affect your vision and make you feel dizzy, light headedness. Do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention or physical strength.

      Food:

      Avoid grape fruit juice as it may alter serum levels.

      Drug Interactions:

      Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines which includes over-the-counter drugs, herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription. Alert your doctor if you are taking Macarbi 40MG tablet with ACE inhibitors, heparin, immunosuppressants (ciclosporin, tacrolimus), hyperkalaemia with K-sparing diuretics (eplerenone, spironolactone, triamterene, amiloride, furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide), NSAIDs, selective COX-2 inhibitors.
