Mondeslor tablet is a combination of two medicines belonging to a group of drugs known as anti-histamines. It is a safe and effective commonly prescribed non-sedating H1-antihistamine approved for symptomatic treatment in patients with allergic disorders such as rhino-conjunctivitis, urticaria and in asthma prevention. This medicine is used in the treatment of various allergic conditions such as congestion, watery eyes, runny nose, stuffy nose and sneezing and prevent bronchospasm during exercise in adolescents and adults. By blocking certain chemical messengers in the body, the medicine reduces itching, rashes, inflammation in airways and makes breathing easier. However, the uses mentioned for this tablet are not comprehensive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

Desloratadine, an antihistamine, treats symptoms like itching, inflammation and rashes by blocking the results of histamine (chemical messenger) in the body. Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist. It works by blocking the action of leukotriene, thereby reducing inflammation in the airways to stop asthma and relieve symptoms of allergies. Thus, this combination is effective in treating allergic symptoms.

How to Use

How to Use

Take Mondeslor tablet as instructed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or crush or chew the tablet.
Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
The tablet should be taken one hour before food or two hours after food. Increase the intake of fluids to avoid excessive dry mouth caused by the tablet, as continued dry mouth can lead to dental disease. Take the tablet at the same time every day as it helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body.
Do not change the dose or stop taking the medicine before completion of the course or without consulting your doctor. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount suggested. even though the symptoms disappear after the medicine has begun.

Overdosage

Avoid taking medicine more than the prescribed dosage. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions after taking the tablet, promptly seek medical attention. Depending on the dosage of Mondeslor tablet, symptoms vary in individuals, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

Kidney:

Extreme caution is advised among people with kidney problems. Close monitoring of kidney function and adjustments of dose of the medicine may be needed based on the clinical condition of the patient. If you have any renal problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consumption of this tablet.

Liver:

Caution is advised among people with liver problems. Dose adjustments of the tablet may be needed. If you have any hepatic problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consumption of this medicine.

Pregnancy:

Mondeslor tablet is not considered safe to use in pregnant women unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks involved. Despite the fact that there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown no or low adverse effects on the developing baby. It is recommended that you consult your doctor before consumption of this medicine.

Lactation:

This medicine is not considered safe to use in nursing mothers unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks involved. Since limited information is available about the safety of taking this tablet, consult your doctor if you are nursing mother and stay on the safe side.

Alcohol:

Consumption of alcohol with this medicine is not recommended as it increases side effects of the medicine. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions after taking the tablet, report to your doctor immediately. If you consume alcohol on regular basis, relevant dose adjustments of the medicine may be necessary depending on your clinical condition.

Driving:

The tablet may decrease alertness, cause impaired judgement, affect your vision and make you feel dizzy, difficulty in concentration, fatigue, light headedness. Do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention or physical strength.

Food:

There are no known food interactions with this medicine.

Drug Interactions:

Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines which includes over-the-counter drugs, herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription. Alert your doctor if you are taking Mondeslor tablet with seizure medicines (carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital), rifamycin antibiotics (rifampicin, rifabutin), fluconazole, ketoconazole, erythromycin, gemfibrozil, CNS depressants.

What is Desloratadine for:

This medication is an antihistamine, prescribed for allergic reactions in patients 2 years of age and older. It blocks histamines action, which reduces allergy symptoms.

How does Desloratadine work:

Desloratadine lowers or stops the bodys reaction to the allergen.

How should Desloratadine be used:

Adult: PO- The recommended dose is 5 mg once daily. Children 6 to 11 years of age: Syrup- The recommended dose is 1 teaspoonful (2.5 mg in 5 mL) once daily. Tablet- The recommended dose is one 2.5 mg tablet once daily. Children 12 months to 5 years of age: The recommended dose is 12 teaspoonful (1.25 mg in 2.5 mL) once daily. Children 6 to 11 months of age: The recommended dose is 2 mL (1.0 mg) once daily. It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with or without food.

Common side effects of Desloratadine :

Feeling lightheaded, sleepy, having blurred eyesight, or a change in thinking clearly. Avoid driving and doing other tasks or actions that call for you to be alert or have clear eyesight until you see how this drug affects you. Headache. Dry mouth. Good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. See a dentist often. Sore throat. Muscle pain. Belly pain.

What do I do if I miss a dose

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. - If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. - Many times this drug is taken on an as needed basis.

What precautions should I take when taking Desloratadine :

Alert your doctor if you have glaucoma, asthma, stomach or intestinal ulcers, prostate problems or difficulty in urination. - Alert your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not breastfeed while you are on Desloratadine. - Do not give Desloratadine to premature and newborn babies or children below 6 months. - Do not give Desloratadine to any child unless advised by the childs doctor or a pharmacist.

When do I need to seek medical help

If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. - Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Very bad dizziness or passing out. Feeling very tired or weak. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

Can I take Desloratadine with other medicines:

Alert your doctor if you are taking any of these medicines: - mood medicines or sleeping pills - other medicines for allergy - antibiotics such as erythromycin. - Always inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
