      Montair 10Mg tablet is an effective medicine approved for symptomatic treatment in patients with allergic disorders such as rhino-conjunctivitis, urticaria and in asthma prevention. This medicine is used in the treatment of various allergic conditions such as wheezing, congestion, watery eyes, runny nose, stuffy nose, coughing and sneezing. It is also used to treat or prevent bronchospasm during exercise in adolescents and adults. By blocking certain chemical messengers in the body, the medicine reduces itching, rashes, inflammation in airways and makes breathing easier. However, the uses mentioned for this tablet are not comprehensive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

      How to Use

      Take Montair 10Mg tablet as instructed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or crush or chew the tablet.
      Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
      The tablet should be taken one hour before or two hours after food. Increase the intake of fluids to avoid excessive dry mouth caused by the tablet, as continued dry mouth can lead to dental disease. Take the tablet at the same time every day as it helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body.
      Do not change the dose or stop taking the medicine before completion of the course or without consulting your doctor. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount suggested even though the symptoms disappear after the medicine has begun.

      Overdosage

      Avoid taking medicine more than the prescribed dosage. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions after taking the tablet, promptly seek medical attention. Depending on the dosage of Montair 10Mg tablet, symptoms vary in individuals, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

      Kidney:

      Caution is advised among people with kidney problems. Close monitoring of kidney function and adjustments of dose of the medicine may be needed based on the clinical condition of the patient. If you have any renal problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consumption of this tablet.

      Liver:

      Extreme caution is advised among people with liver problems. Dose adjustments of the tablet may be needed. If you have any hepatic problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consumption of this medicine.

      Pregnancy:

      Montair 10Mg tablet is considered safe to use in pregnant women unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks involved. Despite the fact that there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown no or low adverse effects on the developing baby. It is recommended that you consult your doctor before consumption of this medicine.

      Lactation:

      This medicine is considered safe to use in nursing mothers unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks involved. Since limited information is available about the safety of taking this tablet, consult your doctor if you are nursing mother and stay on the safe side.

      Alcohol:

      Consumption of alcohol with this medicine is not recommended as it increases side effects of the medicine. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions after taking the tablet, report to your doctor immediately. If you consume alcohol on regular basis, relevant dose adjustments of the medicine may be necessary depending on your clinical condition.

      Driving:

      The tablet may decrease alertness, cause impaired judgement, affect your vision and make you feel dizzy, difficulty in concentration, fatigue, light headedness. Do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention or physical strength.

      Food:

      There are no known food interactions with this medicine.

      Drug Interactions:

      Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines which includes over-the-counter drugs, herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription. Alert your doctor if you are taking Montair 10Mg tablet with seizure medicines (carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital), rifamycin antibiotics (rifampicin, rifabutin), fluconazole, ketoconazole, erythromycin, gemfibrozil, CNS depressants.

      How does Montelukast work:

      Montelukast lowers the bodys making of a group of chemicals called leukotrienes that cause asthma to get worse. - It lowers or stops the bodys reaction to the allergen.

      How should Montelukast be used:

      It comes as a tablet to take by mouth with or without food. The recommended dose is 10 mgday.

      Common side effects of Montelukast :

      Flu-like signs. These include headache, weakness, fever, shakes, aches, pains, and sweating. Mild pain drugs may help. Nervous and excitable. Headache. Belly pain. Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. Nose stuffiness.

      What do I do if I miss a dose

      Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.

      What precautions should I take when taking Montelukast :

      If you have an allergy to montelukast or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs.

      When do I need to seek medical help

      If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Signs of low mood (depression), thoughts of killing yourself, nervousness, emotional ups and downs, thinking that is not normal, anxiety, or lack of interest in life. Trouble breathing. Cough that does not go away. Use of short-acting puffer (inhaler) more often. Numbness or tingling in your hands or feet. Dark urine or yellow skin or eyes. Not able to eat. Change in the way you act. Any skin change. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.
