Montek AB tablet is an effective bronchodilator used to treat blockage, swelling, chest congestion associated with conditions such as bronchial asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. This medicine is used in the treatment of various allergic conditions such as wheezing, congestion, watery eyes, runny nose, stuffy nose, coughing and sneezing. It is also used to treat or prevent bronchospasm during exercise in adolescents and adults. The tablet also helps to loosen thick mucus, making it easier to cough out, thus making easier for air to move in and out. By blocking certain chemical messengers in the body, the medicine reduces itching, rashes, inflammation in airways and makes breathing easier. However, the uses mentioned for this tablet are not comprehensive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

Acebrophylline is a bronchodilator, works by relaxing the smooth muscles of the airways in the lungs and also regulates the production and movement of mucus from the windpipe. It also acts as a mucolytic agent and reduces the thickness of mucus present in the airways providing relief from congestion and stuffiness in the nose. Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist. It works by blocking the action of leukotriene, thereby reducing itching and inflammation in the airways to stop asthma and relieve symptoms of allergies.

How to Use

How to Use

Take Montek AB tablet as instructed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or crush or chew the tablet.
Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
This tablet should be taken with food to avoid stomach upset. Increase the intake of fluids to avoid excessive dry mouth caused by the tablet, as continued dry mouth can lead to dental disease. Take the tablet at the same time every day as it helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body.
Do not change the dose or stop taking the medicine before completion of the course or without consulting your doctor. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount suggested even though the symptoms disappear after the medicine has begun.

Overdosage

Alcohol:

Consumption of alcohol with this medicine is not recommended as it increases side effects of the medicine. Alert your doctor if you are taking Montek AB tablet with seizure medicines (carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital), rifamycin antibiotics (rifampicin, rifabutin), fluconazole, cimetidine, ketoconazole, erythromycin, gemfibrozil, CNS depressants, medicines for chest pain (Nitro-glycerine).
