Normaxin CC tablet is used to treat irritable bowel syndrome, it is also used in short term treatment of anxiety and related anxiety disorders before a surgery. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon a doctor’s discretion.



The active ingredients of Normaxin CC tablet are Chlordiazepoxide 5mg and Clidinium Bromide 2.5mg.

Chlordiazepoxide helps to reduce anxiety disorders during a surgery.
Clidinium Bromide possesses antispasmodic properties. Therefore, it aids in slowing the natural movements of the gut, relaxing the muscles in the stomach and intestine.

Patients with the following conditions are suggested to seek advice from their health care professional before using the Normaxin CC tablet:

  • Hypersensitivity to any of the components used in the Normaxin CC tablet such as Chlordiazepoxide and Clidinium Bromide
  • Myasthenia gravis
  • Glaucoma
  • Obstructive uropathy
  • GI obstruction
  • Paralytic ileus
  • Unstable CVS status
  • Acute hemorrhage

The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of this Normaxin CC Tablet. It is generally well tolerated when taken in the prescribed dosage guidelines. More common ones are generally mild and may include:

How to Use

How to Use

Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor. Swallow Normaxin CC tablet whole, immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break/cut/chew the tablet.
Avoid missing a dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it is almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Do not consume two doses at the same time which may be dangerous to your health.
Take the medicine at the prescribed time and dosage.
This tablet is not recommended in children younger than 6 years.


Avoid using more than the prescribed dosage. In case of an accidental overdose, look for any new symptoms. If you observe any, promptly seek medical advice or report it to the nearby poison control center.

It is not recommended in pregnant women, as the medicine may induce birth defects in newborns.

If taken along with alcohol, it may induce dangerous side effects. Therefore do not consume alcohol while on this treatment.


Normaxin CC Tablet may impair your thinking or reactions. Therefore, do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention/physical strength.

Caution advised when used with other medication(s). Hence, to avoid drug interactions, always inform your doctor about your current list of medication(s) (if any) during the treatment.

  • Keep the medicine out of sight and reach of children.
  • Store at room temperature, away from heat and moisture.

What is Chlordiazepoxide for:

This medication is a sedativehypnotic, prescribed for anxiety disorders and withdrawal symptoms due to alcoholism. It inhibits the action of nerves that are very active in certain diseases.

PO- The recommended dose is 20 to 100mg. How it should be taken : It comes as a capsule and tablet to take by mouth with or without food.

Feeling lightheaded, sleepy, having blurred eyesight, or a change in thinking clearly. Avoid driving and doing other tasks or actions that call for you to be alert or have clear eyesight until you see how this drug affects you. Upset stomach or throwing up. What do I do if I miss a dose

Use a missed dose as soon as you think about it. - If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Many times this drug is used on an as needed basis

What precautions should I take when taking Chlordiazepoxide :

If you have an allergy to chlordiazepoxide or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs. If you are pregnant or may be pregnant. If you are breast-feeding.

When do I need to seek medical help

If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Big change in balance. Change in thinking clearly and with logic. Feeling very tired or weak. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

Can I take Chlordiazepoxide with other medicines:

Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.
