      Oflox injection IV is a broad spectrum antibiotic used in the treatment of uncomplicated gonorrhea, pelvic inflammatory disease, urinary tract infections, lower respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, uncomplicated genital infections due to Chlamydia trachomatis, septicemia, otitis externa, acute otitis media. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon a doctor’s discretion.

      Ofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone act by showing bactericidal activity against a wide range of gram negative and gram positive microorganisms and also restrain bacterial topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase enzymes.

      Patients with the following conditions are suggested to seek advice from their health care professional before taking this Oflox injection:

      • Hypersensitivity to any of the drugs used in the Oflox injection such as Ofloxacin or to other Quinolones
      • Myasthenia Gravis
      • QT prolongation
      • Caution:

      • Ventricular arrhythmias
      • Kidney or lung or heart transplant
      • Diabetes mellitus
      • CNS disorder

      The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of this Oflox injection IV. It is generally well tolerated when taken in prescribed dosage guidelines. More common ones are generally mild and may include:

      How to Use

      How to Use

      Oflox Injection IV is usually administered through parenteral route in a clinic or a hospital setting under the supervision of a nurse or a physician. If self-administered, take the Oflox injection IV at prescribed dose and time.

      Sterilize the area before taking the shot with an antiseptic swab.
      Remove the needle cap by pulling it straight, take the liquid from the vial into a syringe.
      Spread the skin at the site of injection need to be given by using your hand, inject the solution slowly, remove the needle quickly, press gently the injection site with an alcohol swab.

      Overdosage

      Avoid taking more than the prescribed dosage. In case of an accidental over dose, promptly seek medical advice. Depending on the dosage, symptoms may vary but you may experience one or more of the following signs or symptoms:

      • Confusion
      • Dizziness
      • Impairment of consciousness
      • GI reactions

      Take the injection only on the advice of a medical practitioner. Dosage adjustment or complete avoidance of the medication may be required in the following conditions:

      Kidney:

      Caution advised among people with renal problems. If you have any, consult your doctor before the Injecting this medicine.

      Liver:

      Caution advised among people with hepatic problems. If you have any, consult your doctor before the injecting this medicine.

      Pregnancy:

      Safety during pregnancy is not yet established. Therefore, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.

      Lactation:

      This drug may pass through breast milk and may harm a breastfeeding infant. Therefore, do not use this medicine if you are a nursing mother.

      Driving:

      Do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may need your alertness because this medicine may impair your reactions or thinking.

      Drug Interactions:

      Avoid taking antacids, theophylline, a diuretic or water pill, amiodarone, procainamide, sotalol and NSAID’s such as aspirin, ibuprofen, celecoxib, diclofenac, indomethacin, meloxicam, and others – this is not the complete list of possible drug interactions. Therefore, inform your doctor if you currently start or stop any other medication during the treatment.

      Precautions
      • Keep Oflox injection IV out of sight and reach of children.
      • Store between 15-30 Degree centigrade, protect from light.
      • Do not use the medicine beyond its expiry date.
      • Do not use the medicine if any particles are floating in the liquid or any liquid discolouration found.

      What is Ofloxacin for:

      This medication is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, prescribed for certain types of bacterial infections such as chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, skin and skin structure infections, and others. It fights bacteria in the body.

      How does Ofloxacin work:

      Ofloxacin works to harm the bacteria and fight the infection.

      How should Ofloxacin be used:

      It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with or without food. It also comes as eye drops to instill into the affected eyes as directed by your physician. Adult- PO- The recommended dose range is 200 to 800 mg per day in divided doses. Eye drops- Instill 1-2 drops into affected eye(s) every 4 hours.

      Common side effects of Ofloxacin :

      Headache. Belly pain. Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. Loose stools (diarrhea). Yogurt or probiotics may help. You may get these products at health food stores or in some pharmacies. Tendons may rarely get irritated and tear. Unsafe allergic effects may rarely happen.

      What do I do if I miss a dose

      Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.

      What precautions should I take when taking Ofloxacin :

      Do not give oral product to a child younger than 18 years of age. If you have an allergy to ofloxacin or any other part of this drug. If you have had tendons get irritated or torn when taking this drug or an alike drug in the past. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs. If you have myasthenia gravis. If you are breast-feeding.

      When do I need to seek medical help

      If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. A fast heartbeat. Very bad dizziness. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Very loose stools (diarrhea), even after drug is stopped. Pain in back of the ankle. Joint pain or swelling. Very bad muscle pain or weakness. Numbness or tingling in your hands or feet. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

      Can I take Ofloxacin with other medicines:

      Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.

      Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. - Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
