Omnacortil Tablet 10mg is used to treat different types of inflammatory conditions such as lupus, arthritis, psoriasis, ulcerative colitis, allergic disorders, and gland disorders. It also treats certain allergies of eyes, lungs, stomach, nervous system, and blood cells. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon a doctor’s discretion.

The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of this Omnacortil Tablet 10mg. It is generally well tolerated when taken in the prescribed dosage guidelines. More common ones are generally mild and may include:

How to Use

How to Use

Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor.
Swallow the tablet whole, immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or chew the tablet.
Avoid missing a dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it is almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t consume two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
Take the Omnacortil Tablet 10mg with food.
Dosage: Take the medicine at the prescribed time and dosage as recommended by your doctor.
For children: Talk to your doctor before giving the Omnacortil tablet.

Overdosage

Avoid taking more than the prescribed dosage. In case of an accidental overdose, promptly seek medical advice. Depending on the dosage, symptoms may vary but you may experience one or more of the following signs or symptoms:

  • Thinning skin
  • Impotence
  • Loss of interest in sex

Take the Omnacortil Tablet 10mg only on the advice of a medical practitioner. Dosage adjustment or complete avoidance of the medication may be required in the following conditions:

Pregnancy:

Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant because this drug is likely to cause harm to an infant.

Lactation:

Safety during lactation is unknown. Therefore, inform your doctor if you are a nursing mother.

Food:

Alcohol may increase gastric mucosal irritation.

Drug Interactions:

Caution always adviced when used with other drugs. Therefore, inform your doctor if you are taking medication for any other medical conditions during the treatment.

Note: Do not take prednisolone while taking a live vaccine.

What is Prednisolone for:

This medication is a corticosteroid, prescribed for various disease conditions such as allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis, mycosis fungoides, hypercalcemia of malignancy, Crohns Disease, ulcerative colitis, idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura in adults, acute leukemia and others. It prevents the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation.

How does Prednisolone work:

Prednisone replaces a chemical made in the body. It lowers or stops the bodys reaction to the allergen. It stops or lowers irritation and swelling. It lowers the bodys harmful response to diseases of the immune system.

How should Prednisolone be used:

It comes as a solution to take by mouth, with food. PO- The recommended initial dose may vary from 5 mg to 60 mg per day.

Common side effects of Prednisolone :

Fluid retention, alteration in glucose tolerance, increased appetite, high blood pressure, behavioral and mood changes, allergic reactions and weight gain.

What do I do if I miss a dose

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.

What precautions should I take when taking Prednisolone :

If you have an allergy to prednisolone or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs. If you have a bad infection.

When do I need to seek medical help

If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Signs of infection. These include a fever of 100.5°F (38°C) or higher, chills, very bad sore throat, ear or sinus pain, cough, more sputum or change in color of sputum, pain with passing urine, mouth sores, wound that will not heal, or anal itching or pain. Feeling very tired, weak, or touchy; trembling; having a fast heartbeat, confusion, sweating, or dizziness if you missed a dose or recently stopped this drug. Trouble breathing. Very upset stomach or throwing up. A big weight gain. Sudden change in eyesight. If you have been exposed to chickenpox and have not had chickenpox or had a chickenpox vaccine. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

Can I take Prednisolone with other medicines:

Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.
