Panderm ++ Cream 15gm is an antifungal and antiseptic cream used in the treatment of eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, allergies, and rashes. It is also used to treat athlete’s foot, jock itch, ringworm, and candidiasis. Further, it is used as an antibiotic to reduce skin infections caused by bacteria. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon a doctor’s discretion.

Composition

Composition

The active ingredients of Panderm ++ Cream 15gm are Clobetasol propionate 0.05% w/w, Miconazole 2% w/w, and Neomycin 0.5% w/w.

Mechanism of Action of Drugs

Mechanism of Action of Drugs

Clobetasol Propionate has anti-inflammatory properties which are used to treat various skin disorders like eczema, psoriasis, contact dermatitis caused by exposure to the poison, etc. It is a corticosteroid. Corticosteroids are believed to act by inducing the phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins (collectively known as lipocortins). These proteins are thought to control the biosynthesis of inflammation mediators like prostaglandins and leukotrienes by releasing arachidonic acid. Thus, the whole process results in a decrease in inflammation.

Miconazole acts by damaging the fungal cell membrane i.e Ergosterol. Ergosterol is the main component that gets converted into Vitamin D2 when exposed to the UV rays of the sun. Therefore, Miconazole targets the provitamin form of ergosterol thus results in leakage of cellular content.

Neomycin is a bacteriostatic (stops the bacterial growth) agent which interferes with the bacterial protein synthesis and thus kills or stops their growth.
