Pankreoflat tablet is used in the treatment of abdominal pain and associated bloating and indigestion and helps in proper digestion and allows easy passage of excess gas in the stomach. The tablet produces porcine-derived pancreatic enzymes which includes amylases, lipases and proteases. It is used to treat pancreatic enzyme deficiency due to cystic fibrosis, pancreatectomy, chronic pancreatitis. The medicine also reduces flatulence, loss of appetite, stool frequency and stomach discomfort. However, the uses mentioned here are not comprehensive. There may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

Pankreoflat tablet works by improving the digestion of food (fats, carbohydrates, proteins) as it passes through the gut in patients who have inadequate pancreatic enzymes, which are responsible for breakdown of food. Dimethicone is an anti-foaming agent used to reduce bloating, loss of appetite, discomfort, flatulence and pain caused by excess gas in the stomach.

How to Use

How to Use

Take Pankreoflat tablet as instructed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or crush or chew the tablet.
Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
The tablet should be taken during or immediately after a meal with plenty of water or juices (apple, orange or pineapple juice) which have pH of 4 or less. Take the tablet at the same time every day as it helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body.
Do not change the dose or stop taking the medicine before completion of the course or without consulting your doctor. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount suggested.

Overdosage

Avoid taking medicine more than the prescribed dosage. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions after taking the tablet, promptly seek medical attention. Depending on the dosage of Pankreoflat tablet, symptoms vary in individuals, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

  • Diarrhea
  • Colonic strictures

Kidney:

Since there is not enough reliable information about the safety of taking this medicine for renal patients, consult your doctor if you an impairment of normal kidney function and stay on the safe side.

Liver:

Since there is not enough reliable information about the safety of taking this medicine for hepatic patients, consult your doctor if you an impairment of normal liver function and stay on the safe side.

Pregnancy:

Use of Pankreoflat tablet is not advised unless the clinical condition of the patient requires treatment. Despite the fact that there are limited studies in human beings, animal studies have shown no or low effects on the developing baby. It is recommended that you consult your doctor before consuming this medicine.

Lactation:

This medicine is probably unsafe for use by nursing mothers as there is a risk of side effects on the infant. We suggest you to consult your doctor before consuming the tablet.

Alcohol:

Interaction of alcohol with this tablet is unknown. Any symptoms of abnormal reactions after taking the medicine should be reported to your doctor immediately. If you consume alcohol on regular basis, relevant dose adjustments of may be necessary depending on your clinical condition.

Driving:

The tablet does not cause drowsiness or dizziness. If you notice any abnormal reactions after taking the medicine, do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention or physical strength.

Food:

Avoid taking antacids within one hour or two hours after you take this medicine.

Drug Interactions:

Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines which includes over-the-counter drugs, herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription. Alert your doctor if you are taking Pankreoflat tablet with sodium bicarbonate, miglitol, acarbose, magaldrate, levothyroxine, liothyronine.
