      Pantocid HP Kit is used as an antacid, antireflux agent and also as an antiulcerant. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon a doctor’s discretion.

      The active ingredients of Pantocid HP Kit are Clarithromycin 500mg, Pantoprazole 40mg, and Amoxicillin 750mg.

      Mechanism of Action of Drugs

      Clarithromycin acts as a protein synthesis inhibitor. Therefore prevents the growth or multiplication of bacteria.

      Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor which acts by inhibiting the gastric acid secretion in the stomach.

      With its bactericidal property, Amoxicillin inhibits the cell wall synthesis in bacteria thus resulting in bacterial death.

      Patients with the following conditions are suggested to seek advice from their health care professional before taking the Pantocid HP Kit:

      • Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients used in the Pantocid HP Kit such as Clarithromycin, Pantoprazole, and Amoxicillin
      • Hepatic impairment history
      • Ventricular arrhythmias or history
      • Torsades de pointes history
      • Electrolyte abnormalities
      • Significant bradycardia
      • Anaphylactic reaction to beta-lactams
      • Mononucleosis
      • Caution:
      • Congenital long QT syndrome
      • QT prolongation family history
      • Recent MI
      • CHF
      • Heart disease
      • Elderly patients

      The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of Pantocid HP Kit. It is generally well tolerated when taken in the prescribed dosage guidelines. More common ones are generally mild and may include:

      How to Use

      How to Use

      Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor.
      Pantocid HP Kit contains a set of 6 tablets in which the first 3 tablets has to take in the morning and next 3 has to take in the evening one by one.
      Swallow the Pantocid HP Kit tablets immediately after opening the Capsule from the strip. Do not break/crush/chew the tablets.

      Avoid missing or forgetting a dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it is almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t consume two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.

      Pantocid HP Kit may be taken with or without food.
      Take the Tablets twice a day, first 3 tablets in the morning and next 3 tablets in the evening or follow the instructions given on the prescription.
      Pantocid HP Kit is not recommended in children younger than 5 years.

      Overdosage

      Avoid taking more than the prescribed dosage. In case of an accidental overdose, look for any new symptoms. If you observe any, promptly seek medical advice or report it to the nearby poison control center.

      Warnings and Precautions

      Take Pantocid HP Kit only on the advice of a medical practitioner. Dosage adjustment or complete avoidance of the medication may be required in the following conditions:

      Liver:

      Caution advised among people with hepatic problems. If you have any, consult your doctor before the consumption of Pantocid HP Kit.

      Pregnancy:

      Clarithromycin/Pantoprazole: No safety has established. Therefore, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant during treatment.
      Amoxicillin: This drug may be used during pregnancy – fetal harm not expected based on limited human data. However, consider taking the tablet only if suggested by a physician or a healthcare professional.

      Lactation:

      Inform your doctor if you are a nursing mother because safety during lactation is not yet established.

      Alcohol:

      Alcohol may interact with this medicine.

      Driving:

      Since consuming this medicine would impair your thinking/reactions, do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention/physical strength.

      Drug Interactions:

      Caution always advised when used with other medicines. Therefore, inform your doctor about your current list of medication which you start or stop.

      • Keep the Pantocid HP Kit out of sight and reach of children.
      • Store at room temperature away from heat and moisture.
      • Do not use the Pantocid HP Kit beyond its expiry.
      • Do not accept the torn strip or a broken capsule.

      What is Amoxicillin for:

      Amoxicillin is used to stop or treat certain bacterial infections, such as infections of the ears, nose, throat, urinary tract and skin.

      How does Amoxicillin work:

      It is a penicillin like antibiotic and works by stopping the growth of bacteria.

      How should Amoxicillin be used:

      To gain the most benefit, do not miss doses. Use as you have been told, even if you are feeling better. Take with or without food. Take with food if it causes an upset stomach. Chewable tablet: Chew or crush well. Mix crushed tablet with food. Do not swallow it whole. Extended release tablet: Take with food. Swallow tablet whole. Do not chew, crush, or break. Tablet for suspension: Mix the tablet in 2 teaspoons (10 mL) of water. Do not chew or swallow the tablet whole. There is a liquid (suspension) if you cannot swallow pills. Shake well before use. Those who have feeding tubes may also use the liquid. Flush the feeding tube before and after this drug is given. You may crush the tablet, melt it in water, and mix it with chocolate milk, milk, or pudding.

      Common side effects of Amoxicillin :

      Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. Loose stools (diarrhea). Yogurt or probiotics may help. You may get these products at health food stores or in some pharmacies. For women, vaginal yeast infection. Report itching or discharge.

      What do I do if I miss a dose

      Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. - If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. - Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. - Do not change the dose or stop this drug. - Talk with the doctor.

      What precautions should I take when taking Amoxicillin :

      If you have an allergy to amoxicillin, any penicillin, or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs.

      When do I need to seek medical help

      If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Very loose stools (diarrhea), even after drug is stopped. Any bruising or bleeding. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

      Can I take Amoxicillin with other medicines:

      Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.

      How do I store Amoxicillin :

      Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. - Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
