Pantocid IT Capsule is used to treat GI tract diseases and disorders such as gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, peptic ulcer, H. Pylori infection, prophylaxis of NSAID induced ulcers, zollinger-ellison syndrome, and erosive oesophagitis etc. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon doctor’s discretion.



The active ingredients of Pantocid IT Capsule are Pantoprazole 40mg and Itopride 150mg.

Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor which acts by inhibiting the gastric acid secretion in the stomach. On the other hand, Itopride enhances the gastric motility.

Contraindications and Caution

Patients with the following conditions are suggested to seek advice from their health care professional before taking the Pantocid IT Capsule:

  • Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients used in the Pantocid IT Capsule such as Pantoprazole and Itopride
  • GI haemorrhage
  • Mechanical obstruction or perforation
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Caution:
  • Long term use
  • High dose
  • Hypomagnesemia
  • Patients 50 years and older

Side and Adverse Effects

The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of Pantocid IT Capsule. It is generally well tolerated when taken in the prescribed dosage guidelines. More common ones are generally mild and may include:

  • Headache
  • Diarrhea
  • Thrombophlebitis
  • Abdominal pain
  • Nausea/Vomiting
  • URI sx
  • Fever

How to Use

How to Use

Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the Pantocid IT Capsule, immediately after opening the Capsule from the strip. Do not break/crush/ chew the Capsule.

Avoid missing or forgetting a dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it is almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t consume two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.

Pantocid IT Capsule may be taken with or without food.
Take the medicine at the prescribed time and dosage.
Pantocid IT Capsule is not recommended in children younger than 5 years.


Avoid giving more than the prescribed dosage. In case of an accidental overdose, look for any new symptoms. If you observe any, promptly seek medical advice or report it to the nearby poison control center.

Take Pantocid IT Capsule only on the advice of a medical practitioner. Dosage adjustment or complete avoidance of the medication may be required in the following conditions:


Safety is not yet established. Therefore, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant during treatment.


Inform your doctor if you are a nursing mother because safety during lactation is not yet established.

Drug Interactions:

Inform your doctor if you are on any medication such as digoxin, methotrexate, diuretic or water pill and anticholinergic drugs.

  • Keep the medicine out of sight and reach of children.
  • Store at room temperature away from heat and moisture.
  • Do not use the medicine beyond its expiry.
  • Do not accept the torn strip or a broken Capsule.

What is Itopride for:

This medication is a prokinetic benzamide derivative.

How does Itopride work:

This drug is prescribed for dyspepsia and other gastrointestinal conditions.

How should Itopride be used:

Should be taken on an empty stomach (i.e. At least one hour before food or two hours after food). (Take before meals). The recommended dose is 50 mg 3 timesday.

Common side effects of Itopride :

Rash, diarrhoea, constipation, abdominal pain, headache, sleeping disorders, dizziness, galactorrhea, gynecomastia.

What do I do if I miss a dose

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.

What precautions should I take when taking Itopride :

If you have an allergy to itraconazole or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs.

When do I need to seek medical help

If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Trouble breathing. Very bad swelling. Very bad belly pain. Very upset stomach or throwing up.

Can I take Itopride with other medicines:

Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.

How do I store Itopride :

Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. - Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
