Pantocim LS Capsule is used to treat gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, peptic ulcer, H. Pylori infection, prophylaxis of NSAID induced ulcers, zollinger-ellison syndrome, erosive oesophagitis, irritable bowel syndrome, and dyspepsia. This is also used as a neuroleptic medicine. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon doctor’s discretion.

The active ingredients of Pantocim LS Capsule are Pantoprazole 40mg and Levosulpiride 75mg.

Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor which acts by inhibiting the gastric acid secretion in the stomach.
Levosulpiride acts as a neuroleptic and prokinetic agent. Therefore, improves or enhances gastric motility and manages psychosis.

Patients with the following conditions are suggested to seek advice from their health care professional before taking the Pantocim LS Capsule:

  • Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients used in the Pantocim LS Capsule such as Pantoprazole and Levosulpiride
  • Phaeochromocytoma
  • Epilepsy
  • Manic states
  • Hyperprolactinaemia
  • Mammary dysplasia
  • Malignant
  • Mastopathies
  • Cardiac impairment
  • GI bleeding
  • Mechanical obstruction or perforation
  • Caution:
  • Long term use
  • High dose
  • Hypomagnesemia
  • Patients 50 years and older
Side Effects

Side and Adverse Effects

The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of Pantocim LS Capsule. It is generally well tolerated when taken in the prescribed dosage guidelines. More common ones are generally mild and may include:

  • Headache
  • Diarrhea
  • Thrombophlebitis
  • Abdominal pain
  • Nausea/Vomiting
  • URI sx
  • Fever
  • Rash
  • Dizziness
  • Flatulence
  • Arthralgia
  • Vitamin B12 Deficiency
  • Fundic gland polyps

  • Changes in libido

Rare but more serious adverse effects may include:

  • Hypersensitivity reaction

How to Use

How to Use

Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the Pantocim LS Capsule, immediately after opening the Capsule from the strip. Do not break/crush/ chew the Capsule.

Avoid missing or forgetting a dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it is almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t consume two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.

Pantocim LS Capsule may be taken with or without food.
Take the medicine at the prescribes time and dosage.
Pantocim LS Capsule is not recommended in children younger than 5 years.

Overdosage

Avoid giving more than the prescribed dosage. In case of an accidental overdose, look for any new symptoms. If you observe any, promptly seek medical advice or report it to the nearby poison control center.

Take Pantocim LS Capsule only on the advice of a medical practitioner. Dosage adjustment or complete avoidance of the medication may be required in the following conditions:

Pregnancy:

No safety has established. Therefore, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant during treatment.

Lactation:

Inform your doctor if you are a nursing mother because safety during lactation has not yet established.

Alcohol:

Alcohol may interact with drug.

Driving:

Since consuming this medicine would impair your thinking/reactions. Do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention/physical strength.

Drug Interactions:

Inform your doctor if you are on any medication such as Digoxin, methotrexate, diuretic or water pill, Sucralfate, Aluminium and Magnesium-containing antacids.

Precautions
  • Keep the medicine out of sight and reach of children.
  • Store at room temperature away from heat and moisture.
  • Do not use the medicine beyond its expiry.
  • Do not accept the torn strip or a broken Capsule.

How should Levosulpiride be used:

Take this drug as directed by the doctor.

Common side effects of Levosulpiride :

Amenorrhoea, gynaecomastia, changes in libido. Neuroleptic malignant syndrome.

What do I do if I miss a dose

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.

What precautions should I take when taking Levosulpiride :

Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs.

When do I need to seek medical help

If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Chest pain or pressure or a fast heartbeat. Trouble breathing. A big weight gain or loss. Very nervous and excitable. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

Can I take Levosulpiride with other medicines:

Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.

Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. - Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
