This medication is a phosphodiesterase type 3 inhibitor, prescribed for intermittent claudication. It works by improving blood flow to the legs.
Cilostazol helps blood flow.
Adult- PO- The recommended dose is 100 mg twice a day taken at least half an hour before or two hours after breakfast and dinner. It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with food.
Feeling dizzy. Rise slowly over a few minutes when sitting or lying down. Be careful climbing. Headache. Loose stools (diarrhea).
Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses.
Alert your doctor immediately if you have heart failure. Cilostazol is not suitable for people with heart failure. - Let your doctor know if you have other types of heart disease. - Do not take Cilostazol if you are pregnant. - Do not breastfeed while you are being treated with Cilostazol.
If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Signs of infection. These include a fever of 100.5°F (38°C) or higher, chills, very bad sore throat, ear or sinus pain, cough, more sputum or change in color of sputum, pain with passing urine, mouth sores, wound that will not heal, or anal itching or pain. A fast heartbeat. Very bad headache. Very loose stools (diarrhea). Very bad swelling or pain of hands or feet. Any bruising or bleeding. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.
Inform your doctor if you are taking any of these medicines: - other blood-thinning medicines such as aspirin, warfarin, clopidogrel, ticlopidine - antibiotics such as erythromycin, clarithromycin. - antifungal medicines such as itraconazole, ketoconazole. - diltiazem (a blood pressure medicine). - lovastatin (a cholesterol medicine). - omeprazole, lansoprazole, cimetidine (gastric medicines). - Always inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
Avoid Alcohol
Store it at controlled room temperature (15-30°C), and in an airtight container.
Category C : Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.
