Problast Strong capsule, a dietary supplement of multimineral and multivitamin increases bone strength & mineral content and also reduces the chance of fall & fracture. Calcium is needed by the body for healthy bones, nervous system, muscles and heart. The capsule helps boost immunity, prevent and manage nutritional deficiencies. It is prescribed for the treatment of joint pains, osteomalacia, osteoarthritis, rickets, hypophosphatemia, hypoparathyroidism (causing low blood calcium). It prevents weakening of the bones and bone disease in people with kidney problems (renal osteodystrophy). However, the uses of the capsule mentioned here are not comprehensive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

Problast Strong capsule contains essential minerals and vitamins that work together to help build a stronger immune system and also maintain heart health. Calcium supplements regenerates and maintains mechanical properties of the cartilage and provide strength in load bearing bones, thereby improving flexibility in joints. Elemental magnesium is required for energy production, oxidative phosphorylation and glycolysis. Elemental zinc aids in the absorption of calcium in the body and is needed for the body’s defensive (immune) system to properly work and plays a task in cell growth, cellular division, wound healing, and the breakdown of carbohydrates.
L-methylfolate and mecobalamin help in lowering elevated homocysteine levels and plays a key role in helping the body make red blood cells and supports nervous system activity. Vitamin K2-7 is more absorbable form of Vitamin K and provides in maintaining bones healthy by controlling proper utilization of calcium in body.

How to Use

How to Use

Take Problast Strong capsule as instructed by your doctor. Swallow the capsule whole with water, immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or crush or chew the capsule.
Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
The capsule can be taken with or without food. For better absorption, take the medicine with meals and avoid intake of large amounts of fibre-rich food. Take the capsule at the same time every day as it helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body.
Do not change the dose or stop taking the medicine before completion of the course or without consulting your doctor. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount suggested. even though the symptoms disappear after the medicine has begun.

Overdosage

Avoid taking medicine more than the prescribed dosage. Overdose can lead to hypercalcaemia; extreme hypercalcaemia may lead to coma and death. Irreversible renal damage and soft tissue calcification may occur as a result of prolonged hypercalcaemia in some patients. Kidney:

If you have any renal problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consumption of this capsule.

Liver:

Since there is not enough reliable information about the safety of taking this medicine for hepatic patients, consult your doctor if you have hepatic problems and stay on the safe side.

Pregnancy:

Use of this capsule is not advised unless the clinical condition of the patient requires treatment. Despite the fact that there are limited studies in human beings, animal studies have shown effects on the developing baby. It is recommended that you consult your doctor before consuming this medicine.

Lactation:

The medicine is passed to infants through mother’s milk. Infants should be closely monitored. Since there is not enough reliable information about the safety of taking this capsule, consult your doctor if you are nursing mother and stay on the safe side.

Alcohol:

Driving:

Foods that are rich in oxalic acid (e.g., spinach) and phytic acid (e.g., whole cereals) may reduce calcium absorption by formation of insoluble calcium salts.

Drug Interactions:

Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines which includes over-the-counter drugs, herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription. Alert your doctor if you are taking Problast Strong with aspirin, clopidogrel, warfarin, Naprosyn, thiazide diuretics (decreases urinary excretion of calcium), antacids containing aluminium salts, nelfinavir, digoxin, levothyroxine, antibiotics (tetracyclines, quinolones), carbamazepine, thiazide diuretics, lithium, verapamil, ceftriaxone.

What is calcitriol for:

This medication is a synthetic vitamin D analog, prescribed for hypocalcemia in patients undergoing chronic renal dialysis. It helps proper absorption and use of calcium and phosphate in the body.

How does calcitriol work:

It works by helping the body to use more of the calcium found in foods and supplements.

How should calcitriol be used:

PO- The recommended initial dose is 1 mcg (0.02 mcgkg) to 2 mcg administered three times weekly, approximately every other day. It comes as a tablet and capsule to take by mouth, with or without food.

Common side effects of calcitriol :

Dry mouth, muscle pain, increased thirst, loss of appetite, vomiting, metallic taste, upset stomach, constipation, difficult urination.

What do I do if I miss a dose

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.

What precautions should I take when taking calcitriol :

Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Some drugs like phenytoin, phenobarbital, prednisone and some laxatives may affect the availability. Inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, pregnant, or planning to have surgery including dental procedures.

This drug will only work if you get the right amount of calcium from your diet. If you are being treated with dialysis, your doctor may also prescribe a low phosphate diet.
