      What is Estradiol for:

      This medication is a sex hormone, prescribed for treating conditions due to menopause, treating vulval or vaginal atrophy, prostate cancer, and preventing osteoporosis (brittle bones). It is also used for estrogen replacement therapy after failure of the ovaries and to relieve the symptoms of breast cancer.

      How does Estradiol work:

      Estrogens are used to add estrogen to the body. It lowers bone loss.

      How should Estradiol be used:

      Estradiol dosage varies according to indication and route of administration. It may be administered orally, as an intramuscular injection or applied to the skin or mucous membranes.

      Common side effects of Estradiol :

      Headache. Belly pain. Hair loss. Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. Swelling. Enlarged breasts. Skin irritation. Change in sex ability. This most often goes back to normal. For women, vaginal yeast infection. Report itching or discharge. Gallbladder disease, blood clots, heart attacks, and other blood vessel problems may rarely happen.

      What do I do if I miss a dose

      Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.

      What precautions should I take when taking Estradiol :

      If you have an allergy to estradiol or any other part of this drug. - Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs. - If you have any of these health problems: Bleeding disorder, blood clots, breast cancer (except in some cases where the cancer has spread), liver disease, recent heart attack, recent stroke, tumor where estrogen makes it grow, or vaginal bleeding. • If you have surgery and need bed rest. - If you are pregnant or may be pregnant.

      When do I need to seek medical help

      If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Chest pain or pressure. Trouble breathing. Swelling, warmth, or pain in the leg or arm. Very bad headache. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Not able to eat. Very bad skin irritation. Any bruising or bleeding. Dark urine or yellow skin or eyes. Change in how contact lenses feel in the eyes. A lump in the breast or breast soreness. Signs that your child was exposed to the spray. These include early puberty and enlarged sex organs. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

      Can I take Estradiol with other medicines:

      Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.
