      Prothiaden M 50MG tablet is a combination medicine used to treat neuropathic pain, a shooting or burning pain caused by diabetes, shingles, damage or injury of spinal cord and nerves. It helps by increasing the level of chemical messengers (serotonin and noradrenaline) in the brain and relaxes the nerves, thus treating depression. This medicine improves your mood, relieves anxiety, tension, helps you sleep better and increases your energy levels. It also contains nutritional supplement which improves nerve conduction. However, the uses mentioned here are not comprehensive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

      Dosulepin is a tricyclic antidepressant that works by increasing the levels of chemical messengers – serotonin and noradrenaline in the brain that stops the movement of pain signals and help calm the brain and relax the nerves, thus treating depression. Methylcobalamin, a form of vitamin B helps in production of myelin, a substance that protects nerve fibres and rejuvenates damaged nerve cells, together relieving neuropathic pain.

      How to Use

      Take Prothiaden M 50MG tablet as instructed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or crush or chew the tablet.
      Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
      The tablet can be taken with or without food. Take the tablet at the same time every day as it helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body preferably at bedtime.
      Do not use this medicine for durations shorter or longer than suggested by your doctor as it has a potential of becoming habit-forming. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount suggested even though the symptoms disappear after the medicine has begun.

      Overdosage

      Avoid taking medicine more than the prescribed dosage. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions after taking the tablet, promptly seek medical attention.       Kidney:

      Caution is advised among people with kidney problems. Dosage adjustment of the medicine may be needed. If you have any renal problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consuming the tablet.

      Liver:

      Caution is advised among people with liver problems. Dose adjustments of the tablet may be needed. If you have any hepatic problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consuming this medicine. Any symptoms such as nausea, fever, dark urine etc should be reported to your doctor immediately. However, use of this medicine is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.

      Pregnancy:

      This tablet should be used with caution during pregnancy. Despite the fact that there are limited studies in human beings, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. It is recommended that you consult your doctor before consuming this medicine.

      Lactation:

      The medicine is likely unsafe to use for nursing mothers. Limited human data suggests that the medication may pass into the breastmilk and harm the infant. Consult your doctor immediately if the baby shows signs of increased sleepiness, breathing problems or difficulty in breast feeding.

      Alcohol:

      Consumption of alcohol with this tablet is not recommended as it increases side effects such as seizures, fainting, dizziness, mood and behavioural changes. Any symptoms of abnormal reactions after taking the tablet should be reported to your doctor immediately.

      Driving:

      The tablet may decrease alertness, cause impaired judgement, affect your vision and make you feel dizzy, light headedness. Do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention or physical strength.
