This medication is an antacid, antireflux agent and antiulcerant, prescribed for peptic ulcer. It decreases the amount of acid made in the stomach.
Ranitidine helps avoid harm to the GI (gastrointestinal) tract caused by stomach acid or infection.
It comes as a capsule and tablet to take by mouth, with or without food. Adult: PO- Initial: The recommended dose is 300 mg at bedtime or 150 mg twice daily for 4-8 weeks depending on the condition.

These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Very bad dizziness or passing out. Change in thinking clearly and with logic. Chest pain or pressure or a fast heartbeat. Any bruising or bleeding. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.
