Relent tablet is used as a mucolytic agent and also used to treat allergies. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon a doctor’s discretion.
The active ingredients of Relent Tablet are Cetirizine 5mg and Ambroxol 60mg.
Cetirizine acts by blocking histamines which are produced in the body during allergic reactions. Thus by inhibiting these histamines, allergic reactions are controlled or reduced.
Ambroxol stimulates the release of certain surfactants. These surfactants come with an anti-glue factor which helps to reduce sticking of mucus to the bronchial wall and also gives protection against infections.

The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of this Relent Tablet. It is generally well tolerated when taken in the prescribed dosage guidelines. More common ones are generally mild and may include:

Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor.
Take the Relent Tablet either with or without food.
Take the medication at the prescribed time and dosage.
Swallow the Relent Tablet whole immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break/cut/chew it instead.
Avoid missing/forgetting a dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it is almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t consume two doses at the same time which may be dangerous to your health.
Avoid using more than the prescribed dosage. In case of an accidental overdose, look for any new symptoms. If you observe any, promptly seek medical advice or report it to the nearby poison control center.
Take the Relent Tablet only on the advice of a medical practitioner. Dosage adjustment or complete avoidance of the medication may be required in the following conditions:

Caution advised among people with hepatic problems. If you have any, consult your doctor before the consumption of this Relent Tablet.
Safety during pregnancy is unknown. Therefore, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant during the treatment.
Safety during lactation is unknown. Therefore, inform your doctor if you are a nursing mother during the treatment.
Decreased rate of absorption when taken with good. Enhanced CNS depressant effect with alcohol.
Ambroxol:Â Increased risk of congestion with antitussives. Increased serum concentration when used with antibiotics such as cefuroxime, doxycycline, erythromycin.
Cetirizine: Additive CNS depression when administered along with other CNS depressants such as sedatives and tranquilizers. Therefore, inform your doctor about your current list of medicine(s) during the treatment (if any).
