      Saaz DS tablet is used for the treatment of various inflammatory conditions of the joints such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriasis, ulcerative colitis, intestinal inflammation, Chron’s disease. However, the uses mentioned here are not comprehensive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

      Saaz DS tablet is a pain-relieving medicine which work by supressing the overactivity of the immune system in autoimmune diseases and blocks the release of prostaglandins (chemical messengers) in the brain that increase pain and inflammation.

      How to Use

      How to Use

      Take Saaz DS tablet as instructed by your health care professional. Do not use this pill for durations shorter or longer than suggested by your doctor. Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take the tablet as soon as remember, but it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the previous dose and take it according to your normal scheduled time. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount suggested.
      Saaz DS tablet should be taken with food. Drink plenty of water while taking this medicine to avoid kidney problems such as stones in kidney. Take the tablet at the same time every day as it helps to maintain consistent level of medicine in the body.

      Overdosage

      Avoid taking medicine more than the prescribed dosage. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions after taking the tablet, promptly seek medical attention. Depending on the dosage of Saaz DS tab, symptoms vary in individuals, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

      • Nausea
      • Vomiting
      • Abdominal pain
      • Gastric distress
      • Drowsiness or convulsions in more advanced cases

      Use this tablet on the advice of medical practitioner. Dose adjustments or complete avoidance of the Saaz DS tablet may be required in the following conditions:

      Kidney:

      Extreme caution is advised among people with kidney problems. Close monitoring of kidney function and adjustments of dose of the medicine may be needed based on the clinical condition of the patient. If you have any renal problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consumption of this medicine. However, use of this tablet is not suggested in patients with severe kidney diseases.

      Liver:

      Caution is advised among people with liver problems. Dose adjustments of Saaz DS tablet may be needed. If you have any hepatic problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consumption of this medicine. Any symptoms such as nausea, fever, dark urine etc should be reported to your doctor immediately.

      Pregnancy:

      Saaz DS tablet is considered safe to use in pregnant women unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks involved. Despite the fact that there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown no or low adverse effects on the developing baby. It is recommended that you consult your doctor before consumption of this medicine.

      Lactation:

      This medicine is not considered safe to use in nursing mothers unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks involved. Since limited information is available about the safety of taking this tablet, consult your doctor if you are nursing mother and stay on the safe side.

      Alcohol:

      Consumption of alcohol with Saaz DS tablet is not recommended as it increases side effects such as risk of liver injuries, gastrointestinal bleeding, dizziness, light headedness. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions after taking the tablet, report to your doctor immediately. If you consume alcohol on regular basis, relevant dose adjustments of the medicine may be necessary depending on your clinical condition.

      Driving:

      Saaz DS tablet does not cause drowsiness or dizziness. If you notice any abnormal reactions after taking the medicine, do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention or physical strength.

      Food:

      Avoid rich or spicy food.

      Drug Interactions:

      Alert your doctor if you are taking Saaz DS tab with any of the below medicines:
      Digoxin
      Cholestyramine
      Rifampin
      Ferrous sulphate
      Folic acid
      Mercaptopurine
      Azathioprine
      Methotrexate
      Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines which includes over-the-counter drugs, herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.

      What is Sulphasalazine for:

      It is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis. It is used to treat ulcerative colitis.

      How does Sulphasalazine work:

      Sulfasalazine lowers irritation and swelling.

      How should Sulphasalazine be used:

      Take as you have been told, even if you are feeling better. Take with meals. Take with a full glass of water. Swallow enteric-coated tablet whole. Do not chew, break, or crush. Drink lots of noncaffeine liquids unless told to drink less liquid by your doctor.

      Common side effects of Sulphasalazine :

      Headache. Belly pain or heartburn. Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. Harm to the liver may rarely happen.

      What do I do if I miss a dose

      Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses.

      What precautions should I take when taking Sulphasalazine :

      If you have an allergy to sulfasalazine or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs. If you have a sulfa (sulfonamide) allergy, talk with your doctor. If you have any of these health problems: Bowel block, porphyria, or trouble passing urine.

      When do I need to seek medical help

      If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Feeling very tired or weak. If you see tablet bits in the stool. Very bad belly pain or bloody loose stools. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Very bad skin irritation. Yellow skin or eyes. Not able to eat. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

      Can I take Sulphasalazine with other medicines:

      Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.
