      Silodal D8 capsule is an alpha-adrenergic antagonist that is used in men to relieve the symptoms of an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia) such as painful urination, difficulty in passing urine and urinary urgency or frequency. However, the medicine does not decrease the size of the prostate. This medicine is not recommended in patients with a known history of allergy to silodosin and patients with risk of erectile dysfunction. However, the uses of the medicine mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon doctor’s discretion.

      Silodosin is an alpha blocker that works by relaxing the muscles of the prostate gland and bladder and relieves the symptoms of an enlarged prostate. This helps to fully drain the bladder and reduces the need to pass urine frequently and urgently in people with benign prostate hyperplasia. Dutasteride is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor that helps in shrinking the prostate gland by decreasing the level of testosterone which helps the prostate gland grow.

      Patients with the following conditions are suggested to seek advice from their health care professionals before taking the Silodal D8 capsule:

      The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of Silodal D8 capsule. It is generally well tolerated when taken in the prescribed dose. More common ones are generally mild. You may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

      • Dizziness

      • Headache
      • Nasal congestion
      • Orthostatic hypotension
      • Retrograde ejaculation
      • Blurred vision
      • Decreased interest in sexual intercourse

      How to Use

      How to Use

      Take Silodal D8 capsule as instructed by your doctor. Swallow the capsule whole with water, immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or crush or chew the capsule.
      Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
      The capsule should be taken with food approximately 30 minutes after meals. Most recommended dose is one capsule per day. Take the capsule at the same time every day as it helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body.
      Do not change the dose or stop taking the medicine before completion of the course or without consulting your doctor. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount suggested even though the symptoms disappear after the medicine has begun.

      Overdosage

      Avoid taking Silodal D8 capsule more than the prescribed dosage. There were no reports of overdose during the clinical development program for this medicine. In case of an accidental overdose of the medicine, promptly ask for medical advice. Depending on the dosage of the capsule, symptoms may vary in individuals, you may experience the following signs or symptoms:

      • Severe hypotensive effects
      • Vomiting
      • Diarrhea
      • Palpitations
      • Dermatitis

      Take the capsule only on the advice of a medical practitioner. Dosage adjustment or complete avoidance of the Silodal D8 capsule may be required in the following conditions:

      Kidney:

      Among people with renal problems, extreme caution is recommended. Close monitoring of kidney function and adjustments of dose of the medicine may be needed based on the clinical condition of the patient. If you have any, it is highly recommended that you consult your doctor before the consumption of this medicine. However, use of this capsule is not suggested in patients with severe kidney diseases.

      Liver:

      Caution is advised among people with liver problems. Dose adjustments of the capsule may be needed based on the clinical condition of the patient. If you have any hepatic problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consumption of this medicine. However, use of this capsule is not suggested in patients with severe liver diseases.

      Pregnancy:

      Silodal D8 capsule is not recommended for pregnant women as it is known to cause harm to the fetus. Despite the fact that there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown no or low adverse effects on the developing baby. It is recommended that you consult your doctor before consuming this medicine.

      Lactation:

      This capsule is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women.

      Alcohol:

      Consumption of alcohol with Silodal D8 is not recommended as it increases side effects of the capsule. If found any symptoms of extreme drowsiness, dizziness, headache, vomiting, confusion, report to your doctor immediately.

      Driving:

      This medicine may decrease alertness, cause impaired judgement, affect your vision and make you feel dizzy, difficulty in concentration, fatigue, light headedness, do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention or physical strength.

      Food:

      There are no known food interactions with this capsule.

      Drug Interactions:

      Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines which includes over-the-counter drugs, herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription. Alert your doctor if you are taking Silodal D8 capsule along with nefazodone, amiodarone, tadalafil, itraconazole, cimetidine, ketoconazole, baclofen, amitriptyline, baclofen, conivaptan, erythromycin, diltiazem, alprazolam.

      What is Dutasteride for:

      This medication is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor, prescribed for an enlarged prostate treatment. It blocks the production of a natural substance that enlarges the prostate and reduces the need for surgery.

      How does Dutasteride work:

      Dutasteride lowers prostate growth by lowering testosterone levels. It may lower the size of the prostate and help lower the signs. It helps hair regrowth and slows hair loss.

      How should Dutasteride be used:

      Adult: PO- 500 mcg daily (treatment for 6 month may be required before benefit is obtained). It comes as a capsule to take by mouth, with or without food.

      Common side effects of Dutasteride :

      Enlarged breasts. Change in sex ability. This most often goes back to normal. A fast growing prostate cancer may rarely happen.

      What do I do if I miss a dose

      Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.

      What precautions should I take when taking Dutasteride :

      Alert your doctor immediately if you are currently taking or have recently taken, within the last 2 weeks, a medicine called a MAO inhibitor. Examples of such medicines are isocarboxazid, phenelzine, selegiline and tranylcypromine. Duloxetine should not be taken within 2 weeks of stopping a MAO inhibitor, and a MAO inhibitor should not be started within 5 days of stopping Duloxetine. Alert your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy (seizures fits) or an eye disease called glaucoma. You must inform your doctor if you or your family have a history of any psychiatric problems, especially if you have bipolar disorder (also known as manic-depression). Inform your doctor if you drink alcohol, especially if you drink frequently or in large amounts. Alert your doctor if you are pregnant, especially if you are in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding. Do not breastfeed while being treated with Duloxetine.

      When do I need to seek medical help

      If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. A lump in the breast or breast soreness. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

      Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.
