Skinshine Cream 15gm is used to treat hyperpigmented skin conditions. It is also used to treat allergies, rash, itching and redness. In addition, this improves the skin colour, relieves acne. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon a doctor’s discretion.

The active ingredients of Skinshine Cream 15gm are Hydroquinone 2% w/w, Mometasone Furoate 0.1% w/w, and Tretinoin 0.025% w/w.

Mechanism of Action of Drugs

Hydroquinone helps to reduce the pigmentation by decreasing the production of melanin (a pigment in skin which is responsible for brown/dark complexion) in the skin.

Mometasone Furoate stimulates certain natural substances in the body that help reduce allergy, itching, redness etc.

Tretinoin helps to reduce wrinkles and to remove dead cells.

Contraindications and Cautions

Patients with the following conditions are suggested to seek advice from their health care professionals before using Skinshine Cream 15gm:

  • Hypersensitivity to any of the components used in the Skinshine Cream 15gm such as Hydroquinone, Mometasone Furoate, and Tretinoin
  • Hypersensitivity to sulphites
  • Diaper dermatitis use
  • Caution:

Side and Adverse Effects

The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of this Skinshine Cream 15gm. It is generally well tolerated when used in the prescribed dosage guidelines. More common ones are generally mild and may include:

  • Contact dermatitis
  • Dryness
  • Fissuring
  • Erythema
  • Burning
  • Irritation
  • Pruritus
  • Dryness
  • Folliculitis
  • Paresthesia
  • Hypertrichosis
  • Acneiform dermatitis
  • Perioral dermatitis
  • Allergic contact dermatitis
  • Secondary infection
  • Skin atrophy
  • Striae
  • Miliaria

Rare but more serious adverse effects may include:

  • Cataracts
  • Glaucoma
  • HPA axis suppression
  • Cushing syndrome, prolonged
  • Hyperglycemia, prolonged
  • Intracranial HTN, prolonged use
  • Ochronosis, exogenous
How to Use

How to Use

Wash your hands as well as the affected area well, before the application. Wipe dry with clean towel/tissue.
Apply a thin layer of cream topically on the affected area – do not rub it harshly.
Contact with the eyes may cause irritation or burning sensation. Hence, to avoid this, wash your hands well, post application.
Dosage: As recommended by your doctor or follow the directions given on the Skinshine Cream 15gm.

Overdosage

Avoid taking more than the prescribed dosage. In case of an accidental overdose, if you observe any new symptoms promptly seek medical advice or report it to the nearby poison control center.

Use Skinshine Cream 15gm only on the advice of a medical practitioner. Dosage adjustment or complete avoidance of the medication may be required in the following conditions:

Pregnancy:

Do not use Skinshine Cream 15gm if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant because safety during pregnancy is not yet established. However, consider using the cream only if suggested by a doctor.

Lactation:

Do not use this medicine if you are a nursing mother because it is not known whether this drug may pass into breast milk or not. However, consider taking the medicine only if it is suggested by your healthcare professional.

Precautions
  • Keep the Skinshine Cream 15gm out of sight and reach of children.
  • Store at below 250 Centigrade, protected from light. Do not refrigerate.
  • Do not use the Skinshine Cream 15gm beyond its expiry.
  • Do not use if the seal is broken before its use.
  • Recap the cream after its use.

What is Hydroquinone for:

It is used to lower the color of freckles on the skin.

How does Hydroquinone work:

Hydroquinone lightens the skin where there are changes in color.

How should Hydroquinone be used:

Do not take this drug by mouth. Use on your skin only. Keep out of your mouth, nose, and eyes (may burn). Wash your hands before and after use. Clean affected part before use. Make sure to dry well. Put a thin layer on the affected skin and rub in gently. Practice good skin care and avoid the sun.

Common side effects of Hydroquinone :

Short-term pain after use. Dry skin. Itching. Skin irritation.

What do I do if I miss a dose

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses.

What precautions should I take when taking Hydroquinone :

If you have an allergy to hydroquinone or any other part of this drug. If you have a sulfite allergy, talk with your doctor. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs. If you are sunburned.

When do I need to seek medical help

Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Very bad skin irritation. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

Can I take Hydroquinone with other medicines:

Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.

How do I store Hydroquinone :

Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. - Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
