      Sobisis Forte tablet is used as an antacid prescribed for treating metabolic acidosis, diabetic ketoacidosis, urine alkalization, dyspepsia, hyperkalaemia, asystole. It is also indicated in severe diarrhea and in treating certain medicine intoxications to reduce kidney toxicity. However, the uses mentioned here are not comprehensive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

      Sodium bicarbonate acts as a buffer against an excess acidic condition of the body by raising blood pH and helps in neutralizing stomach acid which neutralizes the hydrogen ion concentration during indigestion and heartburn. It increases the excretion of free bicarbonate ions in the urine, hence effectively raises the urine pH.

      How to Use

      How to Use

      Take Sobisis Forte tablet as instructed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or crush or chew the tablet.
      Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
      This tablet should be taken on an empty stomach at least one hour before food or two hours after food. Take the tablet at the same time every day as it helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body.
      Do not change the dose or stop taking the medicine before completion of the course or without consulting your doctor. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount suggested

      Overdosage

      Avoid taking medicine more than the prescribed dosage. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions after taking the tablet, promptly seek medical attention. Depending on the dosage of Sobisis Forte tablet, symptoms vary in individuals, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

      • Metabolic acidosis
      • Sodium overload
      • Shortness of breath
      • Muscle weakness
      • Convulsions
      • Hyperirritability
      • Tetany
      • Severe hypokalaemia

      Kidney:

      Caution is advised among patients with kidney problems. Close monitoring of kidney function and adjustments of dose of the medicine may be needed based on the clinical condition of the patient. However, if you have any renal problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consumption of this medicine.

      Liver:

      Caution is advised among patients with liver problems. Dose adjustments of this medicine may be needed. If you have any hepatic problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consumption of this medicine.

      Pregnancy:

      Sobisis Forte tablet is not considered safe to use in pregnant women unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks involved. Despite the fact that there are limited studies in human beings, animal studies have shown effects on the developing baby. It is recommended that you consult your doctor before consuming this medicine.

      Lactation:

      The medicine is unsafe to use for nursing mothers. Limited human data suggests that the medication may pass into the breastmilk and harm the infant. Consult your doctor immediately if the baby shows signs of increased sleepiness, breathing problems or difficulty in breast feeding.

      Alcohol:

      Interaction of alcohol with this medicine is unknown. Any symptoms of abnormal reactions after taking the medicine should be reported to your doctor immediately. If you consume alcohol on regular basis, relevant dose adjustments of the medicine may be necessary depending on your clinical condition.

      Driving:

      Sobisis Forte tablet does not cause drowsiness or dizziness. If you notice any abnormal reactions after taking the medicine, do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention or physical strength.

      Food:

      There are no known food interactions with this tablet.

      Drug Interactions:

      Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines which includes over-the-counter drugs, herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription. Alert your doctor if you are taking Sobisis Forte tablet with thiazides, furosemide, bumetanide, ethacrynic acid, lithium, aspirin, methotrexate, tetracycline, rifampicin.

      How does Sodium Bicarbonate work:

      Sodium bicarbonate lowers stomach acid. It lowers acid in the blood and urine. It lowers potassium levels in the body.

      How should Sodium Bicarbonate be used:

      Take this drug 1 to 3 hours after meals as an antacid. Mix effervescent granules and powder with a full glass of water and drink.

      Common side effects of Sodium Bicarbonate :

      Belly pain. Bloating. Gas. More thirst. Low potassium levels. Signs include feeling tired, weak, numbness, or tingling; muscle cramps; hard stools (constipation); throwing up; or a fast heartbeat.

      What do I do if I miss a dose

      Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.

      What precautions should I take when taking Sodium Bicarbonate :

      If you have an allergy to sodium bicarbonate or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs. If you have any of these health problems: High bicarbonate levels, high sodium levels, low calcium levels, belly pain, or water in the lungs.

      When do I need to seek medical help

      If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Signs of low potassium. Trouble breathing. Change in thinking clearly and with logic. Very bad swelling. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

      Can I take Sodium Bicarbonate with other medicines:

      This medicine increases the amount of sodium in your body. If you are on a sodium-restricted diet, check with your doctor before taking sodium bicarbonate.
