      Sterio Tablet 16mg is used in the treatment of allergic conditions, anti-inflammatory or immunosuppressive conditions, blood disorders, pain, swelling associated with arthritis, and corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon doctor’s discretion.



      The active ingredient of Sterio Tablet 16mg is Methylprednisolone 16mg.

      Mechanism of Action of Methylprednisolone:

      Methylprednisolone is a corticosteroid which acts by reducing the itching, swelling, redness, and allergic reactions etc.

      Contraindications and Caution

      Patients with the following conditions are suggested to seek advice from their health care professionals before taking the Sterio Tablet 16mg:

      • Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients used in the Sterio Tablet 16mg is Methylprednisolone
      • IM admin in idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura
      • Intrathecal admin
      • Concurrent use of live or attenuated vaccines (Patients receiving immunosuppressive doses)
      • Systemic fungal infection
      • Caution:

      The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of Sterio tablet. It is generally well tolerated when taken in the prescribed dosage guidelines. More common ones are generally mild and may include:

      How to Use

      How to Use

      Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole, immediately after opening the tablet from the strip. Do not break or chew the Sterio Tablet 16mg.
      Avoid missing or forgetting a dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it is time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Do not swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
      Take Sterio Tablet 16mg with food.
      For adults, the initial dosage is 2-60mg daily in 1-4 divided doses depending on the type of disease need to be treated.

      For children talk to your doctor before giving the tablet.


      Avoid taking more than the prescribed dosage. In case of an accidental overdose, look for any new symptoms. If you observe any, promptly seek medical advice or report it to the nearby poison control center.

      Take Sterio tablet only on the advice of a medical practitioner. Dosage adjustment or complete avoidance of the medication may be required in the following conditions:


      Caution advised among people with renal problems. If you have any, it is highly recommended that you consult your doctor before the consumption of this Sterio tablet 16mg.


      Caution advised among people with hepatic-related problems. If you have any, it is highly recommended that you consult your doctor before the consumption of Sterio Tablet 16mg.


      Risk of teratogenicity based on animal data; fetal adrenal suppression may be expected based on the drug’s mechanism of action. However, do not take the medicine if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant until unless suggested by a doctor.


      This drug may be used while breastfeeding, but breastfeed your infant after 8-12 hours of administration of this medicine; Risk of infant harm not expected based on insufficient human data and drug properties; risk of possible decreased milk production based on limited human data when used with high dose depot steroid injection.

      Drug Interactions:

      Caution always advised when used with other medicines such as OTC, vitamins and other herbal or protein supplements. Hence, inform your doctor about your medical history and current use of medicines if any.

      • Keep the medicine out of sight and reach of children.
      • Keep the medicine in a cool and neat place, away from heat and moisture.
      • Do not use Sterio tablet beyond its expiry.
      • Do not use Sterio t if the tablet strip is torn or the tablet is broken.

      What is Methylprednisolone for:

      This medication is a corticosteroid prescribed for severe allergies, arthritis, asthma, certain blood disorders and skin conditions.

      How does Methylprednisolone work:

      It prevents the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation.

      How should Methylprednisolone be used:

      It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with food. It also comes as a solution for injection to be administered by a healthcare provider into the vein. The recommended dose range is 4 to 32mgday. IV- 1gm every 6 – 8 weeks.

      Common side effects of Methylprednisolone :

      High blood sugar. This most often goes back to normal when drug is stopped. Chance of getting an infection. Wash hands often. Stay away from people with infections, colds, or flu. Belly pain. Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. Weight gain. Mood changes. Change in body fat. Weak bones with long-term use. Muscle weakness. Skin changes (pimples, stretch marks, slow healing, hair growth). Cataracts or glaucoma with long-term use. For women, vaginal yeast infection. Report itching or discharge.

      What do I do if I miss a dose

      Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.

      What precautions should I take when taking Methylprednisolone :

      If you have an allergy to methylprednisolone or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs. If you have a bad infection.

      When do I need to seek medical help

      If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Signs of infection. These include a fever of 100.5°F (38°C) or higher, chills, very bad sore throat, ear or sinus pain, cough, more sputum or change in color of sputum, pain with passing urine, mouth sores, wound that will not heal, or anal itching or pain. Feeling very tired, weak, or touchy; trembling; having a fast heartbeat, confusion, sweating, or dizziness if you missed a dose or recently stopped this drug. Trouble breathing. A big weight gain. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Sudden change in eyesight. If you have been exposed to chickenpox and have not had chickenpox or had a chickenpox vaccine. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

      Can I take Methylprednisolone with other medicines:

      Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.

      How do I store Methylprednisolone :

      Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. - Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
