Sumocold tablets are used to treat conditions such as fever, cold, allergy, and mild to moderate body aches. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon a doctors discretion.
The active ingredients of Sumocold tablet are Caffeine 30mg, Diphenhydramine 25mg, Paracetamol (also known as Acetaminophen) 500mg, and Phenylephrine 5mg.
Caffeine has an antagonistic property which effects at the central adenosine receptors. It also acts as a CNS (central nervous system) stimulant and has other properties which facilitates muscular work.
Diphenhydramine has antihistaminic property along with anticholinergic and sedative effects. Thus reducing the allergy in the body.
Paracetamol or Acetaminophen primarily acts as an analgesic and antipyretic agent. Further, it also has anti-inflammatory properties to a certain extent. The Paracetamol produces an analgesic effect by increasing pain threshold and antipyresis by acting on the hypothalamic heat-regulating center.
And lastly, Phenylephrine is a vasoconstrictor and nasal decongestant, so it helps to relieve symptoms of stuffy or clogged nose.

The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of this Sumocold tablet. It is generally well tolerated when taken in the prescribed dosage guidelines. More common ones are generally mild and may include:

Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the Sumocold tablet whole, immediately after opening the tablet from the strip. Do not break or chew the tablet.
Avoid missing a dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it is time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
Take the sumocold tablet with or without food.
For adults, the usual dosage is 1 tablet 2-3 times a day or as suggested by your physician or health care professional.
For children talk to your doctor before giving the tablet.
Avoid taking more than the prescribed dosage. In case of an accidental overdose, promptly seek medical advice. Depending on the dosage, symptoms may vary but you may experience one or more of the following signs or symptoms:
Take Sumocold tablet only on the advice of a medical practitioner. Dosage adjustment or complete avoidance of the medication may be required in the following conditions:
Inform your doctor if you have any renal problems, before taking Sumocold tablet.
Talk to your doctor, if you have any hepatic problems before taking the Sumocold tablet.
Do not take this medicine without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become on pregnant.
Caution advised. Do not take this medicine without talking to your doctor if you are a nursing or feeding mother.
Sumocold tablet may or may not induce sleep – depends upon individual capability. Therefore, if you experience drowsiness, do not operate heavy machinery, drive or involve in any other works which may demand your alertness.
Caution always advised when used along with other OTC drugs or nutritional or herbal supplements. Therefore, inform your doctor about all your current list of medication.
Category C: Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.
This medication stimulates the brain; hence it is used as a central nervous stimulant. It is used along with Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) andor ergotamine for migraine (severe headaches with nausea). It is also used for a breathing condition (apnea) in premature infants.
Caffeine fires up the brain.
It may be administered orally at a dose of 100-200 mg , repeated after 3-4 hours as needed. For apnea in premature babies, it is administered intravenously or orally at an initial dose of 20 mgkg, followed by 5 mgkgday. It comes as a tablet, capsule to take by mouth. It is also available in injection, administered by the healthcare providers, directly into the vein.
Nervous and excitable. - Grouchy or touchy. Not able to sleep.
Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. - If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. - Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Many times this drug is taken on an as needed basis.
If you have an allergy to caffeine or any other part of this drug. - Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs.
If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. - Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. A fast heartbeat. Very nervous and excitable. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.
Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.

Store it 25°C. Store it in air tight container and keep away from children.
Category B : Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women OR Animal studies have shown an adverse effect, but adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus in any trimester.
