      Mechanism of Action of Drugs

      Mechanism of Action of Drugs

Ceftriaxone is a broad-spectrum antibiotic. This mainly acts on the enzymes of the bacteria that help in the cell wall synthesis and cell-division – this is how ceftriaxone results in producing defective cells of the bacteria, disturbs their cell-wall synthesis and responsible for cell death.

Tazobactam shows slight bactericidal activity against itself. Therefore, it is used along with other antibiotics. Tazobactam targets the organism that exhibits the beta-lactams and then degrades/inhibits them by collapsing the cell wall synthesis; thus leading to cell death.
