Telma CT Forte Tablet 40mg is an anti-hypertensive medicine which helps to reduce blood pressure by widening the blood vessels and also used In the treatment of diabetic nephropathy in hypertensive patients with type-2 diabetes mellitus. This tablet is also used to relieve from fluid retention (edema) in people with congestive heart failure, cirrhosis of the liver, kidney disorders or edema caused by steroids or estrogen intake. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon doctor’s discretion.
The active ingredients of Telma CT Forte Tablet 40mg are Chlortalidone 12.5mg and Telmisartan 40mg.
Telmisartan acts by selectively antagonizing Angiotensin-2 AT 1 receptor. With this, it reduces vasoconstriction and blood pressure.
Chlortalidone is a thiazide diuretic water pill which prevents your body from absorbing too much salt.

The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of Telma CT Forte Tablet 40mg. It is generally well tolerated when taken in the prescribed dosage guidelines. More common ones are generally mild and may include:

Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole, immediately after opening the tablet from the strip. Do not break/crush/chew the Telma CT Forte Tablet 40mg.
Avoid missing or forgetting a dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it is time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
Telma CT Forte Tablet 40mg may be taken with food.
Take the dosage as directed by your doctor at the prescribed time and dosage.
Avoid taking more than the prescribed dosage. In case of an accidental overdose, promptly seek medical advice. Depending on the dosage, symptoms may vary but you may experience one or more of the following signs or symptoms:

Caution advised among people with renal problems. If you have any, it is highly recommended that you consult your doctor before the consumption of Telma CT Forte Tablet 40mg.
Caution advised among people with hepatic problems and dosage adjustment may be needed. If liver impairment is severe this medicine is contraindicated in such patients so it is highly recommended that you consult your doctor before the consumption of this Telma CT Forte Tablet 40mg.
This medicine is not recommended if you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant because there is positive evidence of human fetal risk.
Do not take this medicine if you are a nursing mother because it is not known whether this drug could harm a breastfed infant or not.
Do not drink alcohol if you are taking this medicine because alcohol may decrease your blood pressure and increases the side effects of Telmisartan and Chlortalidone.
Caution always advised when used with other drugs such as Digoxin, Lithium, Diuretic or water pill, Ramipril or other BP medicines and NSAID’s, etc. However, inform your doctor about your previous and current history of medicines which you have used.
Category D: There is positive evidence of human fetal risk based on adverse reaction data from investigational or marketing experience or studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.
It is used to treat high blood pressure and fluid retention caused due to various conditions.
It is a diuretic and gets rid of unnecessary salt and water from the body.
It comes as a tablet, usually taken once a day or once in two days. It is best to take the medicine in the morning to avoid going to bathroom at night. Take it exactly as directed by your doctor. Do not take more or less of it. It controls high blood pressure but does not cure it. Continue to take it even if you feel well unless instructed by your doctor.
Muscle weakness, dizziness, cramps, thirst, stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite
Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. - If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. - Many times this drug is taken on an as needed basis.
If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Signs of low potassium. Very bad dizziness or passing out. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Not able to pass urine. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.
Store it at room temperature, and in an airtight container. Keep out of the reach of children.
