      Tinormin Tablet 50mg is used to treat hypertension, angina pectoris, acute myocardial infarction. Besides, it is also used in the emergency treatment of cardiac arrhythmia. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon a doctor’s discretion.

      The active ingredient of Tinormin Tablet 50mg is Atenolol 50mg.

      Atenolol is a beta-blocker. Therefore, it acts on certain natural chemical messengers in the body and blocks their action. Hence, this effect lowers the heart rate, blood pressure, and stress on the heart.

      Contraindications and Cautions

      Contraindications and Caution

      Patients with the following conditions are suggested to seek advice from their health care professionals before taking the Tinormin Tablet 50mg:

      • Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients used in the Tinormin Tablet 50mg such as Atenolol
      • Sinus bradycardia
      • 2nd or 3rd degree AV
      • Heart failure, uncompensated
      • Cardiogenic shock
      • Sick sinus syndrome without pacemaker
      • Pheochromocytoma (untreated)
      • Caution:
      • PVD
      • Bronchospastic disease
      • Major surgery
      • Diabetes mellitus
      • Thyroid disorder
      • WPW syndrome
      • Myasthenia gravis
      • Severe anaphylactic reaction history
      Side Effects

      Side and Adverse Effects

      The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of this Tinormin Tablet 50mg. It is generally well tolerated when taken in the prescribed dosage guidelines. More common ones are generally mild and may include:

      • Brady cardia
      • Hypotension
      • Fatigue
      • Dizziness
      • Cold extremeties
      • Depression
      • Dyspnea
      • Hypotension (orthostatic)
      • Legpain
      • Bronchospasm
      • Lightheadedness
      • Lethargy
      • Diarrhea
      • Nausea
      • Vertigo
      • Drowsiness

      Rare but more serious adverse effects may include:

      • CHF
      • Brady cardia, severe
      • Heart block
      • MI abrupt D/C
      • Ventricular arrhythmia
      • Raynaud phenomenon
      • Bronchospasm
      • Hypersensitivity reaction
      • Lupus erythematosus
      How to Use

      How to Use

      Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor.
      Swallow the Tinormin Tablet immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or chew the Tinormin Tablet.
      Avoid missing/forgetting a dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it is almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t consume two doses at the same time which may be dangerous to your health.
      Take the Relent Tablet with or without food.
      Take the medication at the prescribed time and dosage.

      Overdosage

      Avoid taking more than the prescribed dosage. In case of an accidental overdose, promptly seek medical advice. Depending on the dosage, symptoms may vary but you may experience any one or more of the following signs or symptoms:

      • Brady cardia
      • Hypotension
      • Bronchospasm
      • Acute cardiac failure
      • Hypoglycemia
      • Impaired conduction
      • Heart block
      • Shock
      • Carrdiac arrest

      Warnings and Precautions

      Take the Tinormin Tablet only on the advice of a medical practitioner. Dosage adjustment or complete avoidance of the medication may be required in the following conditions:

      Pregnancy:

      Possible risk of teratogenicity based on limited human data; chances of intrauterine growth restriction and neonatal adverse effects including bradycardia and hypoglycemia based on limited human data. Therefore, do not take this tablet except on medical advice.

      Lactation:

      Do not take this medication incase if you are a nursing mother because possible chances of infant brady cardia, cyanosis, and hypothermia expected based on insufficient human data. However, consider taking only on the advice of a medical practitioner.

      Drug Interactions:

      Caution advised when used with other drugs:
      digoxin, digitalis
      Indomethacin
      any other beta-blockers such as bisoprolol, carvedilol, labetalol, metoprolol, nebivolol, propranolol, sotalol, timolol, and others
      Heart or blood pressure medication such as amiodarone, clonidine, diltiazem, disopyramide, nicardipine, nifedipine, reserpine, verapamil, etc. Therefore, inform your doctor if you start or stop using any other medication during the treatment.

      Precautions
      • Keep the medicine out of sight and reach of children.
      • Store at room temperature away from heat and moisture.
      • Do not use the medicine beyond its expiry.

      What is Atenolol for:

      It is used after a heart attack to stop future heart attacks and lengthen life. - It is used to stop tremor (essential). - It is used to stop migraine headaches. - It is used to stop performance anxiety. - It is used to stop rebleeding from esophageal varices in cirrhosis. - It is used to treat bold or forceful actions. - It is used to treat chest pain or pressure. - It is used to treat a fast heartbeat. - It is used to treat high blood pressure. - It is used to treat side effects caused by drugs that are used for mood.

      How does Atenolol work:

      Atenolol blocks chemicals that fire up the body.

      How should Atenolol be used:

      Take Atenolol exactly as directed by your doctor. - Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor. - Atenolol must be taken regularly for it to work well. - Continue taking Atenolol even when you feel better. - Do not stop taking it unless instructed by your doctor. - You may take Atenolol with or without food. - Try to take it at the same time each day.

      Common side effects of Atenolol :

      Feeling lightheaded, sleepy, having blurred eyesight, or a change in thinking clearly. - Avoid driving and doing other tasks or actions that call for you to be alert or have clear eyesight until you see how this drug affects you. - Feeling dizzy. Rise slowly over a few minutes when sitting or lying down. Be careful climbing. Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. - Loose stools (diarrhea). - Change in sex ability. This most often goes back to normal.

      What do I do if I miss a dose

      Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. - If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. - Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. - Do not change the dose or stop this drug. - Talk with the doctor.

      What precautions should I take when taking Atenolol :

      Atenolol may not be suitable for certain heart conditions. - Alert your doctor if you suffer from any heart conditions.

      When do I need to seek medical help

      If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. - Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. - These include wheezing, chest tightness, fever, itching, bad cough, blue or gray skin color, seizures, or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. - Very low blood sugar or very high blood sugar. - Very bad dizziness. - Trouble breathing. - Feeling cold. - Very bad belly pain. - Very upset stomach or throwing up. - Very loose stools (diarrhea). - A big weight loss. - Very bad muscle pain or weakness. - Feeling very tired or weak. - Any rash. - Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

      Can I take Atenolol with other medicines:

      Alert your doctor if you are taking any other medicines, especially those listed here: Medicines for high blood pressure or heart disease, especially clonidine, Prazosin. - Migraine medicines such as ergotamine. - Do not take antacids together with Atenolol. - Antacids may affect the effectiveness of Atenolol. - If you must take antacids, take it at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after you take Atenolol. - Always inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.

      Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. - Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
