      What is Rituximab for:

      It is used to treat blood problems. It is used to treat leukemia. It is used to treat lymphoma. It is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis. It may be used to treat graft-versus-host-disease (GVHD). It is used to treat Wegeners granulomatosis. It is used to treat microscopic polyangiitis.

      How does Rituximab work:

      Rituximab harms cells causing their death. It is an arthritis-changing drug. It lowers swelling and helps lower signs and protect joints from more harm. It lowers the bodys harmful response to diseases of the immune system.

      How should Rituximab be used:

      It is given as a shot into a vein over a period of time. Acetaminophen and diphenhydramine may be given before this drug to lower fever and chills. Methylprednisolone will be given before this drug in patients treated for rheumatoid arthritis.

      Common side effects of Rituximab :

      Flu-like signs. These include headache, weakness, fever, shakes, aches, pains, and sweating. Mild pain drugs may help. Low blood pressure. Feeling tired or weak. Chance of getting an infection. Wash hands often. Stay away from people with infections, colds, or flu. Feeling dizzy. Rise slowly over a few minutes when sitting or lying down. Be careful climbing. Headache. Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. Belly pain. Loose stools (diarrhea). Cough. Runny nose. Swelling in the arms or legs. Low white blood cell count or low platelet count. High blood pressure. Brain infection may rarely happen.

      What do I do if I miss a dose

      Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses.

      What precautions should I take when taking Rituximab :

      If you have an allergy to rituximab or any other part of this drug. If you are allergic to mouse proteins, talk with the doctor. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs. If you are pregnant or may be pregnant. If you are breast-feeding.

      When do I need to seek medical help

      Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Signs of infection. These include a fever of 100.5°F (38°C) or higher, chills, very bad sore throat, ear or sinus pain, cough, more sputum or change in color of sputum, pain with passing urine, mouth sores, wound that will not heal, or anal itching or pain. Chest pain or pressure or a fast heartbeat. Sudden change or loss of eyesight. Change in thinking clearly and with logic. Very bad dizziness or passing out. Big change in balance. Change in strength on 1 side is greater than the other, trouble speaking or thinking, change in balance, or blurred eyesight. Trouble walking. Trouble breathing. Trouble speaking. Feeling very tired or weak. Very bad headache. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Very bad belly pain. Yellow skin or eyes. Very loose stools (diarrhea). Any bruising or bleeding. Very bad mouth irritation. Very bad skin irritation. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

      Can I take Rituximab with other medicines:

      Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.

      How do I store Rituximab :

      Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. - Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
