      Uses and Benefits

      Trufex AM Tablet is used to treat seasonal allergic rhinitis, chronic idiopathic urticaria, chronic asthma, allergic rhinitis, prophylaxis of excise-induced asthma. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon a doctor’s discretion.

      The active ingredients of Trufex AM Tablet are Acebrophylline 200mg, Montelukast 10mg and Fexofenadine 120mg.

      Mechanism of Action of Drugs

      Acebrophylline helps in reducing the viscosity of the mucus. Therefore, it allows for ciliary clearance (self clearance of mucus from the respiratory tract).Montelukast is a leukotriene inhibitor. Leukotrienes are the chemicals in our body which are responsible for the allergies, swelling of lungs, tightening of the muscles around airways results in asthma. Therefore, by blocking leukotrines, helps in reducing allergic reactions and asthma.

      Fexofenadine is an antihistamine which acts by blocking histamines. Histamines are released during allergic reactions. Hence, by blocking these, Fexofenadine reduces allergies.

      Patients with the following conditions are suggested to seek advice from their health care professional before taking the Trufex AM Tablet:

      • Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients used in the Trufex AM Tablet such as Acebrophylline, Montelukast and Fexofenadine

      Side and Adverse Effects

      The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of Trufex AM Tablet. It is generally well tolerated when taken in the prescribed dosage guidelines. More common ones are generally mild and may include:

      How to Use

      How to Use

      Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the Trufex AM Tablet immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break/crush/ chew it.
      Avoid missing or forgetting a dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it is almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t consume two doses at the same time which may be dangerous to your health.
      Take the Trufex AM Tablet on an empty stomach but do not consume the tablet with fruit juices.
      Take the medicine at the prescribed time and dosage.

      Overdosage

      Avoid taking more than the prescribed dosage. In case of an accidental overdose, promptly seek medical advice. Depending on the dosage, symptoms may vary but you may experience one or more of the following signs or symptoms:

      • Dizziness
      • Drowsiness
      • Fatigue
      • Dry mouth
      • Abdominal pain
      • Somnolence
      • Thirst
      • Headache
      • Vomiting
      • Psychomotor hyperactivity

      Warnings and Precautions

      Take Trufex AM Tablet only on the advice of a medical practitioner. Dosage adjustment or complete avoidance of the medication may be required in the following conditions:

      Kidney:

      Caution advised among people with renal problems. If you have any, consult your doctor before the consumption of Trufex AM Tablet.

      Liver:

      Caution advised among people with hepatic problems. If you have any, consult your doctor before the consumption of Trufex AM Tablet.

      Pregnancy:

      Safety during pregnancy is unknown. Therefore, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant during the treatment.

      Lactation:

      Safety during lactation has not yet established. Therefore, inform your doctor if you are a nursing mother during the treatment.

      Food:

      Do not take the medicine with fruit juices such as apple, orange, and grape, these may make your body harder to absorb the drug.

      Drug Interactions:

      Caution always advised when used with other drugs. Therefore, inform your doctor about your current list of medications (if any) during the treatment. Especially, avoid consuming an antacid within 2 hours before or after you take the Trufex AM Tablet because it makes your body tough to absorb the drug.

      Precautions
      • Keep the medicine out of sight and reach of children.
      • Store at room temperature away from heat and moisture.
      • Do not use Trufex AM Tablet beyond its expiry.

      How does Acebrophylline work:

      It works by dilating the airway tubes and breaking down the mucus

      How should Acebrophylline be used:

      To gain the most benefit, take the medicine daily or as prescribed by your doctor. Take with or without food. Take with food if it causes an upset stomach. Do not crush or chew.

      Common side effects of Acebrophylline :

      Belly pain or heartburn, loss of appetite, diarrhea, or vomiting

      What do I do if I miss a dose

      Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Many times this drug is taken on an as needed basis.

      What precautions should I take when taking Acebrophylline :

      Alert your doctor if you had an allergic reaction to ambroxol, acebrophylline, or theophylline. Use caution if you are suffering from heart problems, high blood pressure, and liver problems. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant

      When do I need to seek medical help

      Seek help if you think there was an overdose or signs of a very bad reaction to the drug, any rash or if a side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

      Can I take Acebrophylline with other medicines:

      The dosage of this drug may have to be adjusted if you are taking certain antibiotics or ulcer drugs. Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.
