What is Typhoid Vaccine for:

This medication is an active immunization against typhoid fever caused by the bacterium Salmonella typhi.

How does Typhoid Vaccine work:

It stimulates the body to produce antibodies against typhoid fever. Prescribed for children greater than 6 years of age.

How should Typhoid Vaccine be used:

Take this medication in an empty stomach. Vaccine not administered to patients treated with antibiotics or drugs like sulphonamide, which are active against the typhoid bacteria.

Common side effects of Typhoid Vaccine :

Headache, fever, rash, itching, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, anaphylactic reaction, nerve damage, muscle pain, hives (area of a skin being raised indicating an allergic reaction), sepsis and weakness.

What precautions should I take when taking Typhoid Vaccine :

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of cancer, blood disorders, HIV infections, pregnancy, and breastfeeding.

When do I need to seek medical help

If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Any bruising or bleeding. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

Are there any food restrictions

Avoid alcohol and grapefruit juice.

How do I store Typhoid Vaccine :

Store it in refrigerator ( 2-8°C). Do not freeze. Keep away from light.
