Veltam 0.4MG tablet is an alpha-adrenergic antagonist that is used in men to relieve the symptoms of an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia) such as painful urination, difficulty in passing urine and urinary urgency or frequency. This medicine is not recommended in patients with a known history of allergy to tamsulosin and patients with risk of erectile dysfunction. However, the uses of the medicine mentioned here are not exhaustive, there may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon doctor’s discretion.

How to Use

How to Use

Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor. Swallow Veltam 0.4MG tablet whole, immediately after opening the tablet from the strip. Do not break or chew or crush the tablet.
Avoid missing or forgetting a dose. If you do, take the tablet as early as you remember; but if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take it at the next regularly scheduled time.
Veltam 0.4MG tablet can be taken with or without food. If significant stomach upset occurs, it could be taken with food. Take the tablet daily once at the same time as it helps to maintain consistent level of medicine in the body.

Overdosage

Avoid taking Veltam 0.4MG tablet more than the prescribed dosage. There were no reports of overdose during the clinical development program for this medicine. In case of an accidental overdose of the medicine, promptly ask for medical advice. Depending on the dosage of the tablet, symptoms may vary in individuals, you may experience the following signs or symptoms:

  • Severe hypotensive effects
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Palpitations
  • Dermatitis

This medication is an alpha blocker, prescribed for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or prostate enlargement. It improves the flow of urine by relaxing the muscles of the prostate and the lower part of the bladder.

How does Tamsulosin work:

Tamsulosin calms muscles of the prostate, making signs better.

How should Tamsulosin be used:

Take 30 minutes after the same meal every day. Swallow whole. Do not chew, break, or crush. Drink lots of noncaffeine liquids unless told to drink less liquid by your doctor.

Common side effects of Tamsulosin :

Feeling dizzy. Rise slowly over a few minutes when sitting or lying down. Be careful climbing. Headache. Nose stuffiness. Change in sex ability. This most often goes back to normal.

What do I do if I miss a dose

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.

These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Very bad dizziness or passing out. Very bad headache. Erection that lasts more than 4 hours. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

Can I take Tamsulosin with other medicines:

Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.
