Veltam Plus tablet is an alpha-adrenergic antagonist that is used in men to relieve the symptoms of an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia) such as painful urination, difficulty in passing urine and urinary urgency or frequency. This medicine is not recommended in patients with a known history of allergy to tamsulosin and patients with risk of erectile dysfunction. However, the uses of the medicine mentioned here are not exhaustive, there may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon doctor’s discretion.
The active ingredients of Veltam Plus tablet are Tamsulosin 0.4MG and Dutasteride 0.5MG
Tamsulosin is an alpha blocker that works by relaxing the muscles of the prostate gland and bladder and relieves the symptoms of an enlarged prostate. This helps to fully drain the bladder and reduces the need to pass urine frequently and urgently in people with Benign prostate hyperplasia. Dutasteride is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor that helps in shrinking the prostate gland by decreasing the level of testosterone which helps the prostate gland grow.

Take Veltam Plus tablet as instructed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or crush or chew the tablet.
Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
The tablet should be taken with food approximately 30 minutes after meals. Most recommended dose is one tablet per day. Take the tablet at the same time every day as it helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body.
Do not change the dose or stop taking the medicine before completion of the course or without consulting your doctor. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount suggested even though the symptoms disappear after the medicine has begun
Avoid taking Veltam Plus tablet more than the prescribed dosage. There were no reports of overdose during the clinical development program for this medicine. In case of an accidental overdose of the medicine, promptly ask for medical advice. This tablet is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women.
Consumption of alcohol with Veltam Plus tablet is not recommended as it increases side effects of the tablet. If found any symptoms of extreme drowsiness, vomiting, confusion, report to your doctor immediately.
This medicine may decrease alertness, cause impaired judgement, affect your vision and make you feel dizzy, difficulty in concentration, fatigue, light headedness, do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention or physical strength.

Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines which includes over-the-counter drugs, herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription. Alert your doctor if you are taking Veltam Plus tablet along with ritonavir, amiodarone, tadalafil, itraconazole, cimetidine, ketoconazole, paroxetine diclofenac, warfarin, furosemide, erythromycin, diltiazem, imatinib.

This medication is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor, prescribed for an enlarged prostate treatment. It blocks the production of a natural substance that enlarges the prostate and reduces the need for surgery.
Dutasteride lowers prostate growth by lowering testosterone levels. It may lower the size of the prostate and help lower the signs. It helps hair regrowth and slows hair loss.
Adult: PO- 500 mcg daily (treatment for 6 month may be required before benefit is obtained). It comes as a capsule to take by mouth, with or without food.

Alert your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy (seizures fits) or an eye disease called glaucoma. You must inform your doctor if you or your family have a history of any psychiatric problems, especially if you have bipolar disorder (also known as manic-depression). Inform your doctor if you drink alcohol, especially if you drink frequently or in large amounts. Alert your doctor if you are pregnant, especially if you are in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding. Do not breastfeed while being treated with Duloxetine.
If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. A lump in the breast or breast soreness. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.
