Mechanism of Action of Drugs

Mechanism of Action of Drugs

Zydip C cream is a combination medicine, used to treat fungal infections. Beclometasone is a steroid which works by blocking the production of prostaglandins (chemical messengers) that cause pain and make red, swollen and itchy.
Clotrimazole is an anti-fungal drug that changes the permeability of the cell wall of the fungal cells and prevents their growth. It binds to the phospholipids of the membrane and inhibits the fungal CYP450 activity, thereby decreasing ergosterol biosynthesis that are essential for the development of the cell membrane. This results in the death of cells due to the loss of intracellular sections.
